“As a haunting rendition of “Pure Imagination””
I found a number of moments hilarious on top of the one you mentioned:
I’d also add that Nathan’s background is in improv - Seth Rogan raves about how Nathan would be relatively quiet in an improv scene and then would bring the house down with the perfect line. So it’s not unreasonable to think he’s simply confident in his abilities without it being scripted.
Like most of Nathan's stuff I think it's more controlled than it is scripted. As you say though, scripted or unscripted doesn't really matter, it's genius either way.
Yep this is as A+ brilliant as things get.
It’s nuts that so few reviews I’ve read of this focus on the humor, or view the humor as incidental. This episode was chock full of belly laughs for me, especially when he incepts Kor the trivia answers (“It’s moments like these I curse the Chinese for inventing gunpowder”). I get that the deep introspective stuff is…
After reading this piece I had to check out Nathan For You. This guy is like the softer side of Sacha Baron Cohen.
Saw B. Didn’t bother to read.
I’ve been a comics fan since I was five, and I’m in my forties now. Anybody who says they care about the Inhumans is a liar. They’ve always been at best weird foils/allies for the FF. Black Bolt and Medusa are cool, but the tv show was total garbage and the only reason Kamala was INhuman in the first place was…
So many people pretending they care about the Inhumans right now. Guys, just say you hate the show because you’re racist. I’d actually have more respect for that position.
Despite the faults of the 6 episode template and some plot points and character stuff that seemed a little rushed here just to keep things tidy, I’m gonna say it!
You had me at Parker Posey.
Saying that the MCU hadn’t found its footing by 2017 is pretty far off. It had been through two Phases and produced several of its ultimate Top 7 movies already.
yeah, ragnarok was also breathing life into a franchise that hadn’t really found it’s footing. now this IS its footing, so it remains to be seen how much more of the same vibe i actually like, vs how much i enjoyed the change of pace in and of itself with ragnarok. sometimes making an alternative a default removes the…
I have always found the criticism of Chris Pratt to be lazy AF. People making broad assumptions about who the guy is, based on where he may/may not attend church, as proof that he is homophobic or endorses homophobic views.
No-one has ever been able to point to clear and proven homophobic actions or sentiments that…
Sir, this is the internet. You are going to have to take your reasonable and measured opinion somewhere else.
Yeah, I genuinely think people just got mad that he went from being an approachable chubby doofus to being what the mainstream considers hot, and they resent him for that in the bizarre, way too personal parasocial way that the Way Too Online specialize in
i’ve never really understood this critique of him? Are there many churches who’s stances on LGBTQ+ people are not super behind the times? Is he the only actor in hollywood who goes to church? Because going to church and cosigning all the backwards beliefs of christianity are two very different things, and pretending…
I never understood the group consensus that Chris Pratt represents some specific Evangelical evil. It sounds like his church operates that way at an organizational level, but HE strikes me as a kind of “apolitical centrist” type: complacent with his privilege (which certainly sucks, to be fair), but not actively…
Whenever they get around to making a real FF movie, assuming that Krasinski is indeed not cast as the “real” Reed, they should still have versions of him pop in through multiverse portals every so often only to be immediately killed in increasingly absurd ways.
