The idea of transforming a 2D character into CGI being a cosmetic surgery is such a delicious plot detail. I hate how much creative effort constantly goes into reanimating the dusty corpses of all-but-forgotten IPs from my childhood, but fuck it. This one has my blessing.

I don’t hate this. And the fact that I get to watch grown-ass adults struggle to grasp the concept of “meta” and compare it to Space Jam (when the trailer spoon feeds you the information that the original series was a show they were actors on and Roger Rabbit is right there hanging out with them) is just a bonus.

I esp

The revival seasons were definitely a mixed bag, but there were some winners in the bunch and they somehow managed to pull off a second fantastic finale. So as long as they get DiMaggio on board, I’m in. If not, I will pretend it doesn’t exist.

You’re incorrect. That’s the worst kind of correct.

The cracks were showing, but it could still go out on a relatively high note.

The CC run was shaky for sure (like the lame Apple spoof or the Obama “Earth certificate” thing) but there were some decent enough episodes (like the fantastic time machine episode).

It’s fine if you like David Cross more than me.”

He lost that weight years ago though.  It’s not like this is a new thing.

That’s a fairly subjective take based on basically nothing. Considering he’s acting his damn ass off as Eli.

The problem comes when defining appropriation. If someone grows up around people who talk that way, lives and breathes NYC hip hop since at least the age of 13, and doesn’t even learn Mandarin until they’re a full adult just to be able to converse with a grandparent, are they actually appropriating? Or are they just

Quitting Twitter is always the right choice. But that aside... It’d probably be wiser for her or other celebrities who have their turn at being called out not to address it or defend themselves and let the social media critics have their say. It almost always blows over or burns out and you just look like you’re

Thank you for that articulate and clear statement. Here is my rebuttal:

No, it doesn’t.

A debate over cultural appropriation and Awkwafina’s blaccent you say?

I feel a bit strange about this. Is it cultural appropriation to participate in a mode of speech that has more or less entered the mainstream, an outcome that in my heart of hearts seems like, basically, a Good Thing?

Well, Awkwafina isnt actively “doing” anything, she is just talking how she has learned to talk over the course of her life. She isnt imitating anything, thats...just how she talks. She is just a new target for people to be angry at.

I definitely consider myself liberal/left, but I often find myself pretty disgusted by how much discourse on the left sounds oddly like it’s promoting separation of the races.

First Akwafine thought, first time I heard her talk (Crazy Rich Asians) I thought she was doing a Miley Cyrus impersonation so that’s my take on her voice.

Who the fuck is Spotify trying to appease with this move? Rogan’s casual racism was well known long before they signed a contract with him. This has nothing to do with Rogan’s COVID-19 disinformation campaign.

F@#K Joe Rogan.

Well, part of the problem with adapting Jack Reacher is that the character is absurd. He’s the Lou Ferigno Incredible Hulk TV show, but he’s Banner and Hulk in one body, plus Sherlock Holmes. He’s smarter, faster, stronger, and all-around better than anyone in any room he’s ever in. It’s frequently pointed out in the
