It's not that the Autobahn is bad - it's just that it's pictured in America as being this orgasmic hybrid of highway and racetrack. It can be amazing and still be overrated if the general expectation is that the Autobahn = Nurburgring.

I agree with you - it's hard to say route 66 is overrated when it delivers on exactly what it promises. Now, it's ok for someone to think that what it's selling is shit but that doesn't mean it's overrated.

I could miss 2 discussion sections without penalty for one of my college English classes and after we started reading Jane Eyre I just didn't go for that week because I didn't want to finish it and talk about it. I grew up in the whitest of middle class suburbia and I remember a girl in my sophomore English who, while during our discussion of To Kill a Mockingbird, proclaimed that "racism didn't exist anymore". Even as a 15 yo in 99, I still knew that was an outrageous conceit.
