Oh, there's no doubt about that. I can see an editorial board's argument for why they don't want Superman or Spiderman in a marriage (that it limits story options) but I'd say that argument really only applies to a select few characters that support multiple books. Wolverine, Batman, maybe a few others.

I edited my comment after reading some more about it than just what was int he original article. You're right on the money.

See the twitter update someone posted in the comments. Turns our you're not far off but at this point I'm not willing to give DC the benefit of the doubt given all the recent drama with their editorial board.

This is not the writer of an 'opinion'. This is the writing of someone with an axe to grind.

Yeah, unfortunately having now seen the movie I have to agree with you. Seeing as the only parts of the movie I really enjoyed was Kruger exploding people and flicking them off I think that has to qualify as aggressively dumb.

I don't think it's bad but it just doesn't seem that interesting to me. I dropped it from my pull list around #11 or 12. I would rate it "fine".

Yeah, but "grounded storytelling in a fantastical medium" usually equals grim and gritty, and cynical. If it were something like Avatar/Legend of Korra, which balances humor and wit with real character relationships and growth, then count me in.

Would you rather I have put "in my opinion" when talking about an opinion of mine?

The current TMNT comics is already kind of like what you describe. And that's a big reason why it's not very good.

District 9 and from what it seems, Elysium are not smart movies. I will, however, much prefer it to something from another visual "visionary" like Zack Snyder because it is not aggressively dumb.

There's nothing subtle about Signs, unfortunately.

There was article here yesterday that brought it up. An update said the rumor has been addressed directly by Disney saying it rubbish. Take what you want from that.

Fair enough - I'm not saying the movie isn't flawed and open to criticism but I do like how the plot is structured. I think there is a prequel comic? So maybe that'll float your boat.

In that case, sincerely, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Oh, I get it. Subtext = acceptable. Totally different. Please accept my apology for calling you an asshole instead of a snarky bastard.

Well, to be honest, what you are describing was a real strength for me. one of the "rules" of storytelling is always leave the audience wanting more and I don't know if that would be true if they "fixed" this movie.

Well, I am glad you were able to call me a censored, slightly naughty word in return then. You sure showed me!

Wait, by a d-bag not being able to take the slightest hint of criticism are you talking about me or you not taking criticism about your comments?

Have a wonderful day!

Do we really want to make everything a trilogy? I loved the fact that the "origin" story is done in 10 minutes before the title card and that everything does actually fit into one movie. We need more of this, not less.
