I haven't really been to any funerals, so I honestly thought the "wear all black" thing was still an actual thing. And then I went to a former professor's memorial service looking like an 80's Batcaver sans the fishnets and eyeliner. I was LITERALLY the only one in all black, and it was pretty conspicuous in the

It's like a people mover at the airport! It helps you do stairs FASTER! Why WOULDN'T you walk?? I'm with you here.

My boyfriend thought I was crazy when I told him that not only do some people walk up escalators (like I do constantly) that there were also rules about which side of the escalator you should stand on and which you should leave clear for people to walk on. And then we went to DC and rode the Metro during rush hour.

THIS. This is my worst nightmare. I run social media at a community college, and we are constantly straddling that fine line between "engaging content that people might actually want to read" and "pissing everybody off with memes and freaking out our cabinet members". Too casual and it comes back to bite you; not

Rachelle Lefevre also played a popular, brainy cheerleader on the Canadian cult classic (YES, I said classic, haters to the left) "Big Wolf on Campus".

Same. I've only ever NOT stayed in a spare room in someone's house once, and I still had a great experience every single time. Hosts have always been content mostly to say a quick hello, make small talk, and leave you be unless you invite further conversation. Heck, I'm using an AirBnb this weekend and the host

Predominately, yeah, but with a more negative connotation. Like you're not just a superfan of anime, but you're also judgy of people who aren't. At least that's how I've always heard the word used, haha.

Maps of the world are so incredibly gorgeous. It's a proper shame we don't spend more time looking at them in school, for sure. There was an elective at my high school (back in the day) called Global Studies that almost no one took, and I only ended up taking because I dropped JROTC mid-semester and needed a half

Oh, and you'll love this: a couple of friends and I went down to the Honolulu Zoo one weekend in high school and we ended up at a McDonald's somewhere around Waikiki. There was a guy and his daughter there, definitely tourists, and they'd just gotten up to leave. The little girl pointed at the trash can flaps and

I never got too many know-it-alls who stepped to me about Hawai'i geography or history (I lived there ten years growing up! :) Yaaaay, howzit?), but I've met a couple of otaku dudes (and one lady) over the years who got a little shirty with me about Japan. I lived there about a year (Navy dad), and I'm not really a

I will never understand how some folks are able to do this. Like, if I don't know anything about Mexican geography (and I really don't), I'm not going to argue with someone about where Mexico City is located, you know? Even if maybe they don't know what they're talking about either, I am at the very least aware that I

Every time I visit my grandma in West Virginia, I come back with a trunk full of beer and wine. Not even sorry. :)

Thank goodness for Giant Eagle Market District and their new beer cave. It's expensive like whoa, but at least I can pick up some beer in a hurry, even if it's only 12 at a time. CURSE YOU, PA LIQUOR LAWS!

Yeah, when this video went live, my Facebook feed exploded. I was at PrideFest in Pittsburgh this year, but I wasn't anywhere near where this went down. A lot of my friends have been Tweeting Mayor Peduto and calling for this guy's job. (Rightfully so!)

I live in Pittsburgh, and Mayor Peduto has been a fantastic advocate so far. If he says he's taking this seriously and launching an investigation, he probably is, going off of his track record for follow up. The rest of this year's PrideFest was such a fantastic event with a huge turn out. It's sad that this terrible

It looks amazing, but yeah, not something I'd ever want personally! Tiny ankle bits were bad enough. OUCH! :)

Second this. I got my tattoo right behind my ankle bone, and when they were working further back it was manageable, but anything close to any prominent bones is going to smart. (My friend got a tattoo down the length of her spine. She said it hurt like WHOA.) I was happy I had my friend there to talk with me about her

I was wondering when Creepshow was going to make an appearance in this comments area. BLECH. Nice .gif, though.

The tattoo parlor where I got my tattoo has the same sign in their window! Theirs is hand-drawn and with sailor tattoo font lettering, though, as befits their profession, haha. I love that sign!

POUSSEY. <3 <3 <3 She and her infinite awesome were already edging in for the top spot in my book BEFORE I found out she was a military brat (always happy to see some military brat representation on TV!) And now she is my forever love and favorite. And Samira Wiley is a MAGIC UNICORN OF GREATNESS.
