Authoritarians have an affection for other authoritarians. Putin does all sorts of things GOPers wish they could here: ban gays and transgendered people, set up a complete oligarchy for themselves and their friends, destroy all opposition, etc.

It’s not enough to simply say he didn’t use them more than others. He issued the fewest Executive Orders per year since Grover Cleveland’s first term. When the GOP suggests in any way that Obama abused Executive Orders, they are blatantly and willfully lying.

A lot of times the reasons people brush off accusations racism/sexism/whatever is because people don’t think they could be racist or sexist or whatever, and refuse to even entertain the possibility - it’s a lack of self-reflection, not a lack of actual validity in the accusation.

‘mistaken’ is a nice way of putting it, but lets be honest, they absolutely knew he was using fewer and less broad reaching orders than Reagan, Clinton, and Bush (and would have been fewer than Poppy Bush if he’d had a second term). They flat out lied about it to make him look bad.

Don’t “both sides” this. Executive Orders have constitutional checks. Congress here just removed one of its checks. Big difference.
