yeah, this is exactly why valve cracking down on this is necessary. it is more insulting than piracy as a developer imo.

It doesn’t, but it at least prevents the game from being totally lost when it’s delisted. If people begin returning to physical copies, in 10 years there will be more floating around, keeping games accessible in some form if this does happen.
Same shortage but because of crypto, legitimate businesses that need beefy hardware, etc. there is exponentially higher demand for PC parts.
All I'm saying is it is harder to get gpus than consoles, not that getting consoles is easy. The last word on my post does a lot of heavy lifting too - I know a few people that have struggled to get ps5s as well
I got a PS5 the day after preorders went up, and the majority of friends who want a PS5 have them. I haven’t been able to get a GPU and don't know anyone who has that paid MSRP for one. Cards seem much harder to get than consoles, anecdotally.
This is why I've gone back to buying physical whenever I can.
Agreed, the lack of anything comparable to tempered monsters and that whole endgame loop is really disappointing. It's frustrating that the game was released incomplete and everyone is acting like it's fine
On the flip side, this is the easiest MH game to date t the point where everything but endgame bosses are boring and I’ve already fallen off it after 40 hours when I normally put 100+ into each one
I didn't like the spitmaw initially but in 4-6 with some range upgrades it can one shot most smaller enemies and staggers big ones nicely
Yeah hollowseeker with portal laser and serrated projectiles is my favorite
This whole year was backlog month, up until Returnal came out. I managed to finish Doom Eternal, 13 Sentinels, Nier Automata, The Outer Worlds, Armored Core 2, and Celeste as well as play a whole bunch of retro games to the point where I’m done playing them, if not completed. Plus a rerun of Resident Evil 7 before…
Note this only applies to pc games released through the windows store. Sony and Nintendo probably won't feel too pressured here. Platform holders put in a lot more investment to set up consoles than they do pc storefronts so I'd be surprised if they ever take less than 20%
Respectfully, it is clear you’ve never ran a playtesting session for a game. If you knew how valuable playtesting data actually was, you wouldn’t have this stance.
“What else is there? Let’s see more reliance on windshield-style environmental effects. Like more blood spattering. More cracked glass. More fog from heavy breathing. Let us fully look at our arms and legs to see clues to our body state. Flip my entire HUD’s color theme to red when I’m in a critical state, instead of…
That’s definitely a reason I don’t go quite that far back in my retro gaming haha. It can be a problem even with more recent games than that too though. I’ve been going through From Software’s PS1 and PS2 games, and they do not use the right analog stick for camera movement. Looking up and down are mapped to L2/R2,…
There’s a concept called affordances, which is the idea that when designing anything, most people using the thing have general knowledge about it, and you can assume that users will be able to understand it without explanation. The more affordances you utilize in your design, the quicker people understand it. Red…
Dead Space had the problem of the healthbar not being obvious enough during intense fights though. It was closer to the center of the screen, and therefore easier to keep track of than a traditional health UI element, but it didn’t solve the original problem with them. Body HUD like that only makes sense for specific…
If you’re a Souls fan, the Demon’s Souls remake is almost worth the new console alone. The start of this year has been really slow for new releases, but that’s changing in a couple weeks finally with Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and FFVII Intergrade coming out soon. As someone who had recently upgraded to a…
Monster Hunter’s learning curve is more steep than most games, but you really wrote this article without playing the tutorial? seriously?
Game Pass also isn’t making any money because most people bought in at the crazy low prices they used to hook people while paying for massive games to make it more appealing. At some point MS won’t be able to sustain both the price of game pass, the lack of traditional game sales and the licensing to get major titles…
