Well, I was under the impression that one of the tenets of the us criminal system was that the defendant be able to understand the crimes they are charged with. From reading another article on this, these cases seem to be good examples of whats wrong witht he Us justice system. I think 3/4 of these men had 70 or bellow IQ and one of them had his lawyer recuse himself in mid case.

Generally speaking I think the level of training the RCMP gets is alot higher than many of the police forces int he Us and while there are problems (Usually east in Toronto) the sort of race conflict that exists currently in the US doesnt exist here.
