The more you go out, the more you expose yourself to the possibility of catching COVID-19 (or other illnesses). One big grocery trip is safer than lots of little grocery trips.
You can get hand-held “bidets”, basically a squirt bottle with an angled nozzle. I’ve been meaning to buy one and try it out. Maaybe now’s the time.
A restaurant reviewer in my city put it out on Twitter that Chinese restaurants were going whole shifts with no customers, and begged people to support their favorite places.
Seconding Bananabunny’s comment, and adding, if you like to listen, just go ahead and listen. People will tell you what they are passionate about (it may not always be the subjects you are curious about, though!).
“he knows he genetically is not”
“That has nothing to do with the triage program Beth wrote about.”
If you cannot accept that black people are just as good as white people, then it is not surprising that all following arguments would also not make sense to you.
I didn’t get that from the article, but a higher percentage of black people live in poverty in the US than white people (although the overall number of poor white Americans is higher because there are more white people in America than there are black people), so an AI program that discriminates against people based on…
Examples of good results from AI does not mean all AI is perfect. Successful AI is great, but we still need to look for flaws and improve AI that is not working as well as it could.
I am fine with that solution, but until that solution becomes the norm, I still prefer gender-separated public bathrooms or genderless single-stall bathrooms.
I think not only do assumptions need to be checked prior to implementation, we need to continue to monitor the performance of AI systems, and improve them as needed. Situations change, new knowledge becomes available, and we need to be flexible enough to adapt technology to emerging needs or needs that have previously…
Logic does not always explain humans. You would think that employers would want to hire people without criminal records more than they would want to hire people with criminal records, but a white felon is more likely to be hired than a black man with no record. It doesn’t make sense, but people do it anyway.
I think it is more accurate to say it is not ONLY a matter of racism. Ability to seek and pay for care is one factor, but there is also ample evidence that - statistically - doctors provide less care for black people even when adjusting for income. AI just looks at how people have been treated in the past and uses…
You put it so much more succinctly than I did.
“Capitalism doesn’t care about race at all.”
I hear a lot of people are fine with genderless public bathrooms, but I am glad I never had to share a public bathroom with my boss who said, “Your boyfriend wouldn’t mind if I sexually harassed you, would he?” or the other boss who watched porn at work and frequently suggested all female employees should wear tube…
We don’t have to hypothesize the logical consequences of an absolute legal right to an abortion. There is already a country without legal restriction on abortion that we can look at to see what happens in real life. Are Canadians aborting healthy, close-to-term fetuses? No, they are not.
“I still question why there isn’t more focus on preventing unwanted pregnancy, the true cause of most abortions.”
1) Yes, selling sex should be legal.
