Allah Rakhi isn't a first name and a surname, it's a first name comprised of two paired words. "Allah" is, as many of you know, the Arabic word for "god," and "rakhi" means "kept by" (as in looked after by, protected by, etc.) — hence, her name is "Allah Rakhi." A lot of Pakistani people don't necessarily have

That movie made me happy. I think you have to really appreciate heavy-handedness to like it, something that isn't so common in our era of irony-worship.

I *do* notice them. They're my family and my community. I am not a Muslim, by the way. I am a former one.

Yeah, but those Muslims tend to be silent when it comes to speaking up about their lovely sunshine-and-rainbows Islam. At least in my experience, they tend to defer to people with more orthodox views because those people are "more religious." Furthermore, the progressive (or whatever you want to call them) Muslims

Hearted. Fellow ex-Muslim here. I'm so sick of people telling me that I just don't understand The One True Islam. Where does this lovely, tolerant Islam in people's heads exist IRL, exactly? Not in the majority of Muslim households, communities, and countries, that's for sure.

This, a million times over. I'm an ex-Muslim and dealing with converts can be so frustrating. They keep insisting that *their* version is The One True Islam. Meanwhile, the rest of the ummah keeps believing and doing something completely different.

Same here *high-five*

Damn. I thought I'd hit upon a good baby girl name. I was thinking of Esme as in Esme Weatherwax d:

Just make sure you buy it used or check it our from the library. He is the tiniest bit of a 'phobe. Wouldn't want to line his pockets d;

Now I'm thinking of the third weirdest Orson Scott Card novel I've ever read: [www.epinions.com]

Yup, it's definitely free on the Google Play (i.e. Android) market and $0.99 on the Apple Appstore.

A lot of "real" pants (and even blazers) for women don't have actual pockets. The worst are the troll pockets — those decorative flaps that aren't real and sometimes are actually stitched-up pockets. Why oh why do they exist?!

Very much agreed. If women's clothing actually had pockets, there would be no need for this.

I do!

I prefer replacing Marklar with Marklar. It makes total Marklar!

As a person with a name that is not only unusual but counter-intuitively spelled, the thing I urge parents to do most is go with a spelling that makes sense. Name your kid whatever, but please please please think the spelling through.

I would indeed be much skinnier if I ate all of my meals with my family. My parents eat so loudly that my auditory sensitivity leads to nausea that prevents me from eating at all around them if there isn't a lot of ambient noise.

I saw some stickers on my way home this morning. I live in Southern California and saw them near Disneyland.

Preee-cisely. I don't get the comments that claim that she reminds them of a "Real Housewife" of some kind. She seems too nice.
