Where does an educator get their knowledge and experience?

Seth Godin’s book, “Stop Stealing Dreams”, is a really good primer to the question of, “What is school for?”

Let's not forget the classics: church functions and community gatherings like dances. The best part is that they tend to be multigenerational.

Has anyone noticed the crazy small sample size that these “scientific” conclusions are drawn from? ... Only 15 kids per group.

Nice article. The title made me smirk. Only in the United States would we consider food variety “strange”.

    DIY spy gear!

Thank you for putting this post together. However, this statement, “Other types of contraception, like good oldcondoms, are much more reliable at avoiding pregnancy than fertility awareness methods.” is not correct. The method effectiveness of NFP is equal to or higher than many contraceptives.

I’ve been called to do many energy audits for this exact reason ...

I would never count on being able to dump weights off to the side. That would give me a false sense of safety when lifting alone.

First, take the cash instead of payments. Then upgrade house and cars - probably $500k house and $100 in cars. I’d inflate my annual expenses to around $500,000, but I can’t really think of how to spend even that much. Donate 10%, pay off the family farm, and quit working so I could spend time with family, get a PhD,

Bingo! And the farms can get very very big too. ... SD doesn’t have an income tax so being an on-paper resident is very advantageous if you make a lot of money.

So I gave this a try last night ... iny opinion it wrecked the guiness and the champagne. Both were excellent separate from each other. :) happy 2016!

I’m not sure I’m willing to chance wrecking a perfectly good Guinness ... I guess I’ll try and see

Kitchen tips for parents. Put all the plastic kids stuff in a bottom drawer so your kids can develop self sufficiency skills. With littlw kids, put ALL sharp items in a single drawer so it can be locked. That way you only have to deal with one locked drawer instead of a bunch of them.

Started at age 22 investing in boring index funds just like Warren Buffet says to do. I think I started at 1% of income and increased by about 1% each year, which I’ll cap at 15% in a few years . It’s quite rediculous how easy investing for retirement can be.

    Finally!

As an professional engineer who does energy efficiency, I have real problems with 1,2,5. These three have huge ‘it depends’ clauses associated with them.

Electric heat is ALWAYS the most expensive heating fuel. Simple thermodynamics. The only way around this is to use heat pumps which ‘pump’ ‘free’ heat from outside your home.

This depends on the climate your in. Also, a home that’s too tight requires mechanical ventilation, which uses more energy than a slightly leaky home.

$15k. We do the Dave Ramsey baby steps. It’s very freeing knowing that we handle any emergency at this point — after 6 months disability kicks in. E-fund is just kept in high-interest checking, simple.
