At this point, the 3DS can continue to make money for N through hardware sales. The BOM on the consoles must be pretty cheap, currently. That will further increase their profits on devices. They can just keep churning out hardware, and still be deep in the black.

If you’ve had your 3ds for a while, it sounds like you could use a new battery. My wife was complaining about crappy standby time. I looked at the battery and it was bulging. In with a new battery, and standby time extended to days.
