Dark sublety is fun. Depressing non-stop darkness isn’t.

I like the broader cast and don’t miss the days of one or two top performers like Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell in every sketch.
I have a performer crush on Heidi Gardner - not only because she’s pretty but because she does pissed off in a way I completely relate to. I liked her bit on weekend update but am curious why she and her mom weren’t in the cold open.
You die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the establishment - also see Bill Maher.
Remember to be fair but firm, keep the sun out of your eyes, and don’t break anything. Especially you.
Holy God, that one is like the weaponized version of The Day After. Threads is the OG but When The Wind Blows is so poignant.
Decent choices but also needs:
There are three phrases I might be able to cobble together some sort of rationalization around:
If it’s an ironic thanks (as in “thanks for helping drag this nightmare toward reality”) it should be more clearly labeled as such.
We are not rational beings so much as rationalizing beings - we will strain and scrape and come up with _something_ to explain any arbitrary set of circumstances.
Aaaaaaannnddd...Sand Hill Partners just scheduled a meeting.
Thanks a lot - tech bros are like the Bloody Mary of online discourse, have a nightmare and they’ll have a business model funded by the fame penis anxiety of the 1.5%.
Ramy was fine and game for the sketches, the material just wasn’t that good. I did like the Ramadan sketch, it’s nice to see parodies of religions other than Christianity and Judaism.
Nice to see Sarah Sherman showing up more.
Hate the game, not the player.
Entertainment is about product, and products are about models. She’s a Baby Doll Face/Adult Body Jayne Mansfield/Marilyn Monroe/Goldie Hawn/Heather Locklear/Jennifer Connelly/Denise Richards/etc model, and as long as it works for her she can trade on that type.
You’re right. I’ll step back on Cloverfield and Super 8 before he tried to turn them into a universe.
“Plot” as in the JJA sense of words and images extruded as a linear sausage of characters and scenes without any composure, arc or deliberate storytelling.
Disagree to agree there, friend. Search for Abrams and Lost is in every intro. He does not deserve 100% of the blame/credit; his ersatz minion-hack Lindelof is who truly dragged that show to hell.
About every six months or so we get a hard shill for the Flipper Zero here. Click-through dollars at work?
I was intrigued at the beginning and think the performances are good but it’s turned into Lost on Ice at this point.
Best season ever including the first. Lorne Malvo was cartoonishly capable while Ole Munch, and all of the rest of them, are flawed in so many wonderful ways it was a joy to watch.
