Haha. This is Texas: cyclists are always presumed to be in the wrong because they should have been in a truck with firearms, like all normal people.

The title is misleading. It should read, “Toyota is taking the car shortage to the bank”
Burn it all, we don’t need more trucks. Also where are the plastic film protecting the paint? Don’t new cars have those?
I think we can see the writing on the wall now, with most automakers reporting great earnings results, despite the chip shortage, that this will be the new normal for a while and the “chip shortage” will continue for as long as they can stretch it.

The dealership model needs to die. Why car shopping in 2021 isn’t like buying any other good is beyond me. I get that there are logistical challenges, but that should all be baked into the MSRP.
what will we do about the shrinking middle men.
Pretty hilarious that you would frame second gear in that way since last time I looked, our side doesn’t whine and then attack the nation’s capital in defense of their crooked leader...
I know one thing scarier than the car loans - is the software behind this website. It takes a pretty crazy amount of effort to crash Chrome browser with ads. Somehow they figured it out.
It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see where things go from here — just a passing look at what happened a decade ago.
Per NPR this morning, “The tax proposal would apply to just about 700 taxpayers.” Unless you are one of those 700 I wouldn’t be too worried.
There is absolutely no plan to tax the 401k of middle class Americans, full stop. The threshold for the tax is tens of millions of dollars, but thanks for the scare tactics.
The sound quality of satellite radio is abysmal and I have no idea why anyone would want it.
For sure. It’s basically useless and the only reason it exists is so that automakers can claim fuel efficiency numbers their cars won’t ever really achieve.
THIS x 100000000000000! I’ve never loathed a new feature more in my entire life, and you’ll never convince me that it doesn’t lead to accelerated wear and tear on the starter motor or the engine itself based on how people stomp the accelerator as soon as the light turns green.
Satellite radio.
Auto stop/start. From what I can tell it really doesn’t impact overall fuel economy that much and just makes for jerky starts at stoplights and stop and go traffic. It’s an automatic motion for me now to turn it off when I start the car.
Agreed. The mild convenience of having this on my BMW wagon is completely offset by the anxiety and anger that comes anytime someone else uses it and inevitably yanks the liftgate open anyways while it’s trying to open. I’m getting mad about it even while writing this comment.
automatic transmissions - they promise a life of ease and luxury, while in reality they make driving boring and remove all personality from a car.
Power lift gates.
