I mean, as Jewel said: “As a feminist, I can’t support everything that’s being said tonight, but as somebody who hates Ann Coulter, I’m delighted.”

I was REALLY skeeved by a supercut of all the “sick burns” that were thrown at her during the roast. It was all sexist bullshit making fun of her looks...like...THERE’S SO MUCH MATERIAL THERE, WHY GO FOR THE SEXIST HACK JOKES?!?! I know we all hate her, but it doesn’t make that shit ok.

Normally I’d be against the relentless abuse of a dumb animal, but I’m ok in Ann Coulter’s case.

She buys groceries?! I assumed her sustenance came from turning her head 180 degrees and eating the face of her partner during copulation.

Seriously now, you are embarrassing yourself. That’s not an ad hominem. Literally nothing you have applied the phrase to so far has qualified.

But why aren’t you focusing on this guy’s entitled, misogynistic behavior?

Again, you transparently have no idea what constitutes that particular logical fallacy so you should probably stop saying it so often. I mean, assuming you care about embarrassing yourself in public; maybe you don’t. Your contributions to this conversation so far make me wonder.

She has never, to my knowledge (starting with season 1 of her comedy central show) done a “no men will have sex with me” bit. She has done a lot of “Men seem to think I’m not hot enough for TV,” which I’m sure is 100% true, but her shtick has always been more “I have a lot of sex with men,” so, the opposite of what

So? I didn’t know that Amy Schumer and Maria Bamford were in competition. Women are allowed to be shitty and mediocre without having everyone blame all women for it, yanno

Want to bring that mentality to men accused of rape? Didn’t think so.

This isn’t just “my universe” it is “your universe” too.

Actually he inserted himself into her performance and tried to humiliate her, which she was (rightly so) having none of. Neither was the audience. If you don’t like her as a comic, fine. But why aren’t you focusing on this guy’s entitled, misogynistic behavior?

I don’t understand most of your response. I’ve heard she was accused of stealing a joke but I actually don’t really care. She has an immense body of work so one or two of her jokes are bound to resemble another comedian’s from time to time. It happens when you’ve produced as much material as she has.

I wish I had a nickel for every person that used the phrase “ad hominem” incorrectly as shorthand for “hey that person insulted me.” That’s not how this works. You haven’t actually presented an argument, just a series of unsupportable statements. It’s not possible for someone to levy an ad hominem attack against you

Wow... so she humiliated and used someone as a pawn for laughs?

Thank God you woke up this morning and rushed to Jezebel so you could deliver this hot take. You sound like a very rational and well adjusted individual and I for one hope you can give us more of this level of fine insight. Thank you. Thank you. I am literally standing and clapping in front of my monitor. People in my

What’s possibly going on here is that somebody is a combination of bored/lonely/angry, and is throwing out a deliberately inflammatory position in order to get lots of attention and comments. It’s not quite human interaction, but it can be the next best thing.

Well I agree with you in that I don’t think Amy Schumer is always a shining beacon of feminism but why call her a hack? She is obviously talented, funny and incredibly charismatic and has done a lot of things right to be where she is now. If it is a discussion you seek, starting it off with such a petty statement is

Jo Brand has been known to say “shut up or I’ll sit on your face. I have my period.”

You came into a thread talking about how Amy Schemer handles hecklers well, and started saying she sucks as a comic and hey Maria Bamford. This isn’t an “argument” that people want to engage with you in, because its completely out of left field, it’s a dumb argument because all it is is opinions and of course we’re
