I find calling it “Xitter” (pronounced “shitter,” using the pronunciation of x in Anglicized Chinese words) is the best way forward and surprisingly very accurate as a moniker.

I do work in the entertainment industry - not the artistic side, but I have interactions with casting directors. I know that I can’t do what they do, nor do I even fully understand it all. But I understand how important it can be to find that right supporting player and also to build a great ensemble.

Casting in movies is about more than just the high profile leads. If there are more than just a few actors in a movie, the Casting Director is the person who is usually responsible for them being there. Sure, a few of the prominent characters may be chosen by the Director or studio, but there are usually multiple

I do think that Choreography (Stunt or Dance) would be a category that makes much more sense.

I don’t have ready access to an Arby’s so you’ll forgive this extremely delayed outburst: THEY DISCONTINUED POTATO CAKES?!

I do happen to have a large number of water bottles, but about half of them are ones I received for free. I have a selection of four different sized Nalgene bottles. Three get very regular use. (The one that doesn’t used to, but I realized the other ones better fit my needs.) I have a Shaker bottle I use for protein

I want to stop caring. I used to care a ton until the year Titanic won Best Picture, and I was fucking mad about it. (To this day, I still say L.A. Confidential should have won.) It was the first and maybe only year I had seen all the Best Picture nominees before the ceremony. I felt entitled to my opinion. (What can

I haven’t seen Poor Things yet, so I can’t say, but I will note how the Oscars also seem to have a hard on for broader, bigger performances.

One thing the Oscars has long had a problem with is leading comedic performances. They love honoring comedic performances in supporting roles, but they don’t seem to understand how hard a high quality performance in a comedic leading role is. I’m not saying that all comedies get snubbed, but it is a matter of fact

I HAD THAT SAME THOUGHT. 😡

Margot Robbie didn’t just do good work. She’s the glue that holds that movie together. I’ve watched Barbie multiple times, and she is the heart of that thing. It’s performances like hers that really should but rarely do get honored in the lead acting categories. Do you realize just how hard it would be to do what she

Or a good mixer in a cocktail/mocktail.

This was exactly my response to reading this article.

Shit on it all you like, but I found that Christmas version delightful.

You haven’t felt truly weird about the world until you’ve heard a Renaissance style cover of the Axel Foley theme.

Ironically, Hurt WAS an abuser and rapist, but he’s one of the ones whose abuse we collectively decided to ignore. (Also, he’s only allegedly so. He never even went to court for it, much less was convicted.) https://medium.com/narcissistic-abuse-rehab/marlee-matlin-on-surviving-william-hurt-d8428742afa8#

Let’s do ALL OF THEM.

Counterargument: recast him and use that to the advantage of the character (and the narrative) so that people don’t initially realize who he is. And then suddenly, SURPRISE! Hell, have a fucking ensemble of different Kangs. Who is Kang? It could be anyone we don’t already know yet, and maybe it’s even one or two minor

I think Alito was able to hide his horribleness behind the much louder horribleness that was Scalia and Thomas. But then Scalia died and Alito got to step into the limelight as the other terrible justice.

The hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug. They don’t care. As long as they get to have power and hurt the people they think deserve it, they don’t care that they’re being hypocrites. The logic they use is not actually logical. It just masquerades as such, which is why it’s so insidious.
