I literally yelled out loud in excitement at this series’ return.

See, that’s weird to me. My reaction has always been, “Oh, cool! I had no idea they were related.” And then I start looking for family resemblances.

You had me at new show with Betty Gilpin.

My mom would record the episodes that I loved the most, too, so that I could rewatch them. My favorites were always “Cinderella,” “The Princess and the Pea,” and “The Snow Queen.”

You CAN lean into what audiences want and make some of this work for you. More blockbusters, more event movies (Oppenheimer - a “drama” but we all know it’s much more than that), your big shit.

Notes on this (significantly compiled from things others have already said):

I think that’s the thing. A lot of people are like “I’m not missing much.”

Not sure if I’m right, but my understanding is that the whole idea of these platform exclusive movies is to get people to subscribe. If people can go see it in cinemas, they may just do that and not subscribe. (I wonder if Glass Onion only appeared in cinemas at all because Rian Johnson required it in his contract

It’s kind of a hot mess, but it was fun, and definitely Sam Raimi flavored. (What other director could have gotten away with including Zombie Strange?)

I think I agree on that rating, though the upgrade may only be to B+ if the reveal hadn’t been spoiled by the marketing. (Seriously, Studios, PLEASE stop doing that.) I did think it was a lot of fun - one I would watch again.

Only tangentially related, but now that AVClub is owned by hopefully less boneheaded ownership, can we get Tom Breihan back at the end of the year to update A History of Violence, Age of Heroes, and Popcorn Champs? (And to catch those ups from the years he didn’t cover?)

I think she’s probably feminist (or thinks she is). So we’ll compromise and call her a TEF.

At worst, mental health may be amplifying the bigotry, but the bigotry has to be there in the first place for the mental health to amplify it.

Yeah, just because it’s a mental health problem is not an excuse for assholery. My mother had a myriad of mental health problems. Didn’t give her excuses for the bad shit she did over the years. In fact, she very often tried to use her mental health as a way of avoiding responsibility for her toxic behaviors, and I

If a man wants to go assault women in a public restroom, I promise that he is very unlikely to premeditatively dress as a woman to do so. If you see what you think is a man in women’s clothes in that restroom, most likely it’s not a man, and she’s just there to pee. If you see a man in man’s clothes in that restroom,

I’d say this whole conversation is a waste of time when focusing on the actors who actually turn out to be talented. Sure, they got a leg up, but if they’re good, just enjoy them!

But I think the point is that as a result of Tori Spelling getting the opportunities she got, some other actor(s) who were probably a lot better missed their chance at their big break. So, even if they don’t manage to stick it out due to lack of talent, they have still taken work away from people who were genuinely

Doesn’t even have to be family. At my company, for lower level positions, we have an informal default that if someone else on staff refers you, you automatically get a phone interview. Whether that results in a second round interview and the job is another matter, but there are definitely candidates we might have

DoesTheDogDie.com reports that the cat does indeed make it through the movie!

Personally, I find the series better than the book. The book took me a hell of a time to get through. I’m not a slow reader, but the fact that it took over half the book to get to the place where I had a vague idea where the book was going just made things insanely tedious. I was interested enough to keep reading but
