I fucking clapped at that line, and I think it is now my favorite Jamie moment in this show.

I mean, you can TRY, but you probably won’t win, especially if they’re just pricing the unit “competitively with other units in the area.”

I PICKED VICTOR/VICTORIA, TOO!

I suspect this is going to have to be an ongoing battle with the Academy to get something like this added. They are very reluctant to add new awards, and it would probably require many years (decades?) of active lobbying by industry members who support it. At least according to Wikipedia, the Academy has rejected

This could be partly the result of his insurance company. Having been involved in a couple collisions with cars on my bike (their fault both times), I learned both your and their insurance company will look for any way not to have to pay the bill themselves. So, if there’s a chance that the accident may be the fault

Actually, I was noting how she finally looks more natural. A few years back, it looked like she’d had some fillers injected - she was looking overly plump in some parts of her face. Either they absorbed or she had them dissolved and is finally looking more like how I would expect her to.

Now playing

Pringles. Fucking serious. The reduced fat regular flavor Pringles are actually much tastier than the normal ones. (I am not the only one to say this - see a couple examples of random YouTubers agreeing with me.) I generally avoid low fat versions of highly processed products, but this is one exception. They are

Knowing that this is what got tighter gun laws in the 60s and 70s, I have long thought it would be wise to fund a mass movement to have black and brown people show up en masse to apply for gun permits in states with the most lax gun laws. (I’m not saying to arm them. Just have them file for the permits, assuming

Whenever I see this conversation pop up again, it always makes me think of how Elizabeth Banks has defied the celebrity bullshit about how they work so hard for their bodies by admitting that her looks and ease of remaining thin is significantly due to genetics: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/elizabeth-banks-genetics_n

It’s no less magic than any of the other parts of movies that they already honor. I just think that stunt performances haven’t often been a part of “prestige” cinema up to now so they haven’t spent time considering whether it’s worthy of being honored. It probably doesn’t help that a lot of the most impressive stunt

Technically, a serial killer can be someone who is acting impulsively and almost on instinct (and often, historically, they have been). Fictional media has sensationalized the version of the serial killer who coldly and methodically stalks their victims before brutally murdering them, often in highly controlled

I’m confused. You actually confirm that men are more violent by mentioning how men are more likely to commit suicide by violent methods.

Basically? Don’t get me wrong - they do a lot of work making sure a lot of parts are filled. Any part that the director/producer hasn’t already cast in their heads has to be cast, and the casting director is responsible for finding the best possible options for those roles. (I think the director probably makes final

You ever want to remind yourself for the basis of Margaret Atwood’s quote (paraphrased), “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them,” spend some time scrolling through Wikipedia’s “List of Serial Killers in the United States” and see how many are men who murdered women. Hell, even

With formal emails, I resort to “Regards” as a sign-off most often. I will sometimes use “Best” or “Thanks” depending on circumstances of the email. In simple replies, I often just put my name.

Not exactly useful around the house, but it’s a use: when I was a kid, my mom taught me to take a piece of wax paper and ride it down on a slide in a playground. The more you do it, the more it’ll wax the slide, and it’ll make you go faster, which makes it a hell of a lot more fun. Eventually, you can ditch the paper

And for those of us olds who still prefer slightly longer form and more substantial death positive content, there’s Ask A Mortician (aka Caitlin Doughty) on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@AskAMortician.

Speaking from experience working in theatre, casting directors don’t necessarily play a part in casting every role. Sometimes, the director comes in knowing who they’d like to hire for certain roles, and if those people are available and accept, the casting director has very little part in that casting process.

I absolutely agree. I would add Best Stunt Coordinator, Best Stunt (for an individual setpiece), and Best Ensemble (not a stunt related category, but one that I think has been missing for a long time).

Someone’s trying to get an IgNobel Prize!
