I was referring to the destiny portion. Yes I know what destiny means. I saw it as the producers referring to the girl's character going on some journey or some corny bs like that. I'm just not seeing the link between the reference to destiny and genocide of natives in the trailer. I think people are reading that

I'm not sure everyone sees that in the trailer.

So what's your point? Are you suggesting that "destiny" is not the word a group of religious fanatic colonists would use? It's obviously a terrible movie with corny drama but it's a stretch to ascribe to the producers of the movie some belief that the colonists were spiritually/morally superior to natives

Despite us not agreeing this is the most fuzziest and pleasant exchange I've ever had on Gawker media.

Perhaps, and I appreciate your civil tone.

Yes it was totally wrong, but people at that time believed it to be right, so if one is to accurately depict them, we would have to depict them as such.

I don't think its inconsistent to say that while white colonialism was an oppressive force on Native Amer, there were also cases in which violence was perpetrated on the white colonists by the Natives. It was a war, and I'm not sure why telling a story in the context of things that did happen, but does not fully

Not sure why this is racist, but a movie like Django Unchained is not. It depicts 17th century people engaged in , for lack of a better term, a race war. The trailer focused on the white characters but it looks like the Native characters were given adequate development too (the leader calling upon his people to

(don't actually just illustrating the point)

Yeah I got over my divorce awesomely by banging so many chicks I met at bars and it was totally cool until I had a kid from it and now I have a baby mama and we have no emotional connection

Whose going to fix up Sochi's poor neighborhoods now?!

yes absolutely, but that's not really relevant to my point that the headline was misleading

I think everybody admits that women were treated as second class citizens several decades ago. It looks more like he was acknowledging that, and stating the fact that things are getting better. He then immediately rejects the notion that there is an active "war on women."
I like you Jez, but you're stretching here.

NO EVANGELICALS ARE RIINING AMERICA DUCK DYNASTY CHICK

"I think it's important to be tolerant here. Their religion is a peaceful one and we should be respectful. It's nothing like Christianity, which is pure evil."

FUCK THE BABY ITS JUST A PIECE OF FLESH.

"give me that purple stuff"

yeah too bad a man had to come along and ruin that for us through dirty campaigning and mob politics

Wow that's maybe the most groan-worthy thing I've seen in 2014

Where's the GIF of an excited Kevin Hart?
