I just don’t see why anyone thinks it matters whether they’re poor or rich. They should be paid for their work and/or their contributions to the film or show, even if it’s just their likeness and name. Plus even if we say for the sake of argument that the actors are millionaires, why does that mean the execs—who are

Why they insist on owning everyone that works on a production is beyond me.

It’s a lot of work taking a completely AI generated performer and making them ‘famous’ enough to make blockbusters with them.

Imagine showing up to be an extra in a Spider-Man movie or something & years later seeing yourself in the background of some Kirk Cameron movie about abortion being genocide.

More than likely, the studios are going to greenlight a lot of things to make up for the drought of content caused by the strikes. IMO the bigger problem is that a lot of workers will be (and have already been) forced out of the industry to look for other jobs, because most people don’t have enough savings to survive

Good. They shouldn’t.

Gosh, why would actors refuse a deal that essentially implies their skills are worthless and inferior to shitty-looking digital puppetry? A real head scratcher.

If the thinking was “no one’s going to look at some background characters who are on screen for two seconds”, then these studio folks are way out of touch. Audiences now are so eagle eyed and more than willing to slow down, pause and rewind movies looking for something they can roast the shit out of on the internet.

Oh, some people are. Some asshole morons, but still.

Good. Literally nobody is blaming the actors for this strike.

The studios have no doubt been licking their lips at the prospect of scanning actors and reusing them endlessly in whatever they fancy for free. They’re not going to give that up easily.

Excellent point made by someone on Twitter:

Yep, waste management is the fucking worst.

I read the first two phrases of your comment in a Donald Trump voice, but you lost me at your third, which was heartbreakingly self-aware. Maybe it’s an age thing, but I can’t imagine wanting to have dinner with that many people.

Just in case anyone else wants to put words in my mouth, I will rephrase my comment.

He pivoted to the right wing because he knew accusations were coming. As a right wing darling, he could claim the accusations were an attempt to “cancel him” and they would gobble it up.

As someone on this website said at least once; Brand’s hard pivot to far right antivaxxer makes a lot more sense (apart from the antivaxxer bit) if you assume he was expecting accusers to come forward.

The Eagles only had to play a benefit concert to get out of their statutory rapes. The 70s were such a magic time

I vomited in my mouth reading this. I am severely arachnophobic thanks to a childhood stint in Australia and I would rather be trapped in a sleeping bag with a dozen goliath bird-eating spiders than go through what that girl went through.
