Nobody brings you tons of expensive gifts when you just throw a regular old party.

I can't even like this enough. So wonderful. I wish we could summon up the nerve we have as kids later in life.
So... those aren't sick moves? I assumed everyone was giving me space in the club Saturday Night Fever style, to admire my fucking rad dancing.
fellow West Virginian here who did an elementary school talent show routine to achy breaky heart wearing black leggings, giant white t-shirts and knee pads (cause sliding across the gym floor on our knees was part of the routine duh). solidarity internet high five!
OhhhhMG. Shirt-kinis. I had forgotten about that.
Oh my god, this is so great....
hahahahaha!!
I had a system and order for my stuffed animals in my bed every night that meant a different one could sleep next to me- the place of honor- without one ever getting missed and feeling left out.
Hell yeah on the shirt-kini. But I'm about a decade older than you, so I was being Daisy Duke when I rocked the shirt-kini. It was extra classy when I paired it with my candy cigarettes.
I am DYING!
Yep, I did that with stuffed animals too! Also, there is a picture of defiant three-year-old me face-down in bed with my wooden giraffe scooter* next to me, also face-down (so his wheels were facing the foot of the bed). They told me no, I couldn't bring my scooter to bed, so I flung all my toys and us both onto the…
I also had famous dancing sessions set to achy breaky heart. My extended family called it the jiggle dance and still ask me to do it - it gives me stomach cramps so I don't attempt it.
Oh man I got in so much trouble for doing the shirt-kini trick! I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. All the girls on my block were a year or two older than me, and taught me how one day. I came home all proud and my mom was so mad. I was probably 5 or 6.
I was laughing so much reading this. Oh man, best laugh all week. Thank you for that.
I can't speak for reboundstudent, but I've lived in small towns (<1000), medium-sized (1500—500,000) and now, I'm living the the capital of my current country (>1 million). I take public transport and walk everywhere, and it still doesn't happen. I walk through the "bad" part of town at 2-3 am, about 2x per week,…
I did this, and still kind of do. I have 2 Care Bears, a magic nursery bear, and a small stuffed Big Bird that moved with me. Three of them live in a hat box while one sits on my dresser, on rotation . I apologize to the one going back into the box and the two staying inside, tell them I still love them, then look…
My twin sister was much more the sensitive, empathize with her possessions type than I was. She was that way about books, clothing, toys. Like, not just sentimental but emotionally engaged with them.
Orange was my favorite color, because no one else ever picked it and I was afraid it felt left out. I was also extremely concerned about the feelings of my toys.
Dear Texas,
I doubt it'll be crazy extravagant. She's been pretty toned down lately and I feel like the costumes are for her fans, not her fiance.
