This is 100% true. I’ve taught at three different ‘elite’ institutions (2 of them Ivy League) and if there’s one consistent thing about them, it’s the disconcerting number of very wealthy kids who are incredibly dumb/lazy/both dumb and lazy. The slightly more fastidious of these kids are very good at performing

This finally forced me to sign up for Kinja (although I might be greyed?). When I first read the comment about Sepinwall I immediately assumed what you’ve articulated here. As a non-comic book reader, I was completely confused about what this character’s powers were, although I allow that I was very bored watching

I agree with your sentiment (of course!), but this person's commenting history is pretty much made up of insensitive, antagonizing blather, so don't hold your breath. At least pretty much everyone else here has some measure of civility/empathy.

Your Penny Dreadful posts were wonderful!

Same. It was nice, but difficult to read the conversations on (what I assume is) the last WoT as well.

It's not terribly old and I'm sure there are better articles/features, but this was just hilarious and I don't think anyone else will mention it:

Hello dear. I have a ton of work to do today and a very limited time to finish it, but my goodness I can't just let this sit here and feel ok about it.

I was a 7 year old who didn't like to admit that she was terrified of 'Thriller' (and knew exactly when to flip the record over) and watched the video at a birthday party with the older kids like 'it was no big deal' and then couldn't sleep for days afterward..

Echoing the comments here-this is wonderfully considered.
Having seen Wonder Woman last night (my 1st DC film in the theater!), there was one quibble I had about the film and I'm curious about your thoughts given what you've said above:

They continue to do a good job putting Jennifer's pop-culture references to creative use!

My favorite performance of this song:

Interesting! Thanks for the link. Maybe next season we can start separate threads about the costumes..

I really enjoy the melodramatic elements, so the show has been a lot of fun in that sense.

I've enjoyed this show much, much more than I thought I would (I didn't find the pilot especially compelling), but my goodness it does feel awkward sometimes to be watching as a person in the 35-45 demographic-I found myself getting up to get dessert during the scenes with Veronica/Archie and Betty/Jughead.

eek, meant to reply to the OP..nothing to see here!

I really enjoy Powerless so much and yet it seems that it's doomed. :(

I've seen it and had very mixed feelings. I love both film and theatrical musicals (though I'm not really an expert in either one) and really thought I was the ideal audience for something like La La Land . The opening song was catchy and I adored the staging, but for me the rest of the film never really sustained

That seems wise. Initially we had an interesting conversation going but, not unexpectedly, it got out of control and I jumped ship.
