@geotheloser: And why can one not run in them? I mean, even if they are the 'good' pair, they are still sweat pants.

Awesome.

@Krakenstein: Most of the picture had a very Stargate feel to me. Which is a good thing.

I still contend that the last Indy film was a good, solid, fun film - with a terrible, boring, horrible films braided into it.

So say you're 20,000 words past when you thought the stupid characters would get on the road and start their stupid adventure and they are still middling around in the pub. That's a wrong turn. Or as I like to call it, what I'm going to spend December fixing.

@Jesse Astle: Your awesome suggestion aside (which is super awesome and would make me want to watch the film), I just didn't like Silver Chair and wouldn't care for a movie of it. It's probably because it was the first book without any of the original kids, and it's those kids that I really loved about the books. I

@tamahome: Replace 'kinda' with 'very' and you have my opinion of Lindsay Hollister since I saw her in Nip/Tuck

@OutlawDominus: This movie needs to be attacked by the Jez horde. This sort of thing is why the exist.

@go-falcons: I didn't actually make it that far.

@Rav Gar: Like Dune it was released serialized in a magazine, but it has a very different feel and style than Dune (I've always felt).

Wait, no, I thought the consensus was this was fake.

@geesejuggler: That really is the best part of the movie. Everyone pretending that Lambert is Scottish and Connery is not.

@AdoraBelle: I really wanted to read them after I heard Neil Gaiman talk about them. He said reading them was an important part of his childhood. He used to just love the books and the world, but then one day he found out all the subtext and the hidden meaning and he felt cheated. It really upset him.

@Pessimippopotamus: Frank. Some of his books after Dune are great, like God Emporer, but others Children of Dune, or Dune Messiah? Just silly sci-fi stories that uses the Dune title as a cover. For sure they aren't as bad as some of the stuff being written now, but they still aren't very good.

Can't say that I will ever be happy with a Dune movie. Unless they reach into my mind and pull out my mental Paul and my mental Jessica I could never be happy with the cast.

@AdoraBelle: I didn't like it much as a kid, but I reread it in college and just feel in love with the characters. But like I said, I only like the first three books (and I guess Horse and His Boy, but that book can be pretty racist).

@dunemanic: To be fair, some of the books Herbert wrote in the series are pretty horrible. He did start the 'write some junk with Dune in the title and make lots of money' trend.
