I don't know if I've said this lately, but I love you io9.

@WookieLifeDay: If America was working on earth-bound science, I would agree.

@Dexomega: Part of that is the fault of the structure of NASA (and its overseers). They completely change shape with ever administration, sometimes mid administrations because they are at the whim of Congress and the Executive Branch. They can spend years, even close to a decade working on a project only to be told

@WookieLifeDay: Well, I will admit that growing up in the US it's pretty hard for me not to get caught up in the 'we're so great' mentality, especially when talking about our past. By my main worry isn't that we won't be 'the best' anymore, my worry is that we won't even be comparable to nations of similar size and

@gallamine: I'm sure that is what they meant, but that plot line, in conjuncture with the over all 'male gaze' of the film makes it all the more distasteful.

@WookieLifeDay: I just mean that if we were still a great nation we would have been developing new launchers to phase in once these went out of use. We didn't want to plan (or pay) for that.

@Pope John Peeps II: I didn't actually watch the trailer. The fact that there is actual attempted rape in the film (a staple of explotation semi-rape fantasy films) makes me want to see it all the less.

And with that ends America's run as a great nation.

@WookieLifeDay: Your number two point is pretty much my whole feeling for this film. He thought, 'oh people think I treat woman badly in my films, I'll make a film about hot girls kicking ass and that will fix that.'

"before she is deflowered by a vile man."

@atrus123: I think there is a fear that with production still in shambles the same thing would happen to McKellen that happened to del Toro. He clears his schedule for it after signing, but then it doesn't happen, forcing him to either keep clearing his schedule indefinitely, or just quit. This way Jackson can wait

Finally.

@givepass: But how is that any worse than paying for DLC? I mean, it's even free.

@givepass: That more people will play video games because of promotional stuff on Facebook?

"Every aspect of the landscape was a result of biological engineering"

"Let them see the birth of the Monarch!!"

@Tyrunn: Very cool. Because based on the trailer I saw I thought it was just going to be another slapstick comedy action. I hope they get some better stuff out to a more general public soon.

"but we were not making a [spoof] of this genre."

Now playing

Wait! No! Don't watch the video in the article!

@t3knomanser: The point of NaNoWriMo is to get people to write. that is all. It's about getting out a huge block of text, of YOUR WORDS, at once without thinking "is what I'm writing really good or not." It's about just making yourself write. That way, when you do get a good idea, you have the practice to turn it
