I think that’s what the OP is referring to though, the inherent and reactionary nature with which a lot of people immediately reject any mobile game out of principle.

There are plenty of “console-quality” mobile games out there, and as long as the game is good then the OP’s assertion that it is a smart business move to

I understand all that and I also roll my eyes at the shallow whining on display in comment sections. I guess my main point is those sort of people are expressing a reductive version of the issue that they’re really mad about, which is what mobile games generally are like and they’ve attached that stereo-type to most

A lot of people don’t want to play a popular console game on their phones. It has nothing to do with coming to terms with the times. If this was released alongside a console port or a different console version title then people would be less annoyed. But it has been 4 years and with the state of Konami in that time it

It’s okay to moan about shit games from a shit company like Konami. It’s cathartic. Now, the ones who are upset that this is on mobile instead of console, like it’d be any better on console at this point - those guys are deluding themselves.

How in the world are these not called “Nook Boxes”?

Only reaction I can respond with when I heard this news.

It’s not so much that it’s a mobile game for me (I love playing non-MT games on my phone/iPad) but that purely profit-driven mobile games tend to just not be very high quality products that respect that player’s time or are worth investing into. Cynically using an existing IP to get that extra bit o’ dosh out of fans

From everything I’ve read and seen, the combat looks to be five times better than it used to be. I disliked how mindless and button-mashy the old GoW formula was, whereas this looks much more strategic and deliberate.

Wireless controllers are the deal breaker?

This is the internet you’re talking about....

“if you have watched that video”

I didn’t. I played the game and it was shallow. Unlike you, I don’t need someone else in a Youtube video to tell me what I’m supposed to think.

“It explores many philosophical disciplines”

It doesn’t explore very much. It introduces brief situations and develops almost none of them.

“many of the robots are named and themed after actual philosophers.”

Wow, name-dropping is so deep.

Nier Automata is a fucking chore for me but I continue to play because I sunk $40 into it. I keep thinking maybe this turd will polish itself at some point and I’ll have that eureka moment and end up loving it.

I’d say that’s right, but to be fair to the Cultural Critique Crowd (of which I am a card carrying member) Ubisoft leaned HARD into that angle on multiple fronts. What’s even more perplexing is that they bragged about hiring a leading expert on cults/cult behavior and then....they got Far Cry 5.

Yeah. Like...yeah... Something is way off. It’s almost frightening.

I haven’t gotten very far with the game but I’m not seeing what the hype is about. The gameplay is good but nothing has hooked me yet. I have put this game down twice in favor of other games (1st time was for Persona 5 which deserves more praise than it gets IMHO and the 2nd time was for Mario Odyssey). I believe I’m

Mr Incredible’s head is just the wrong size. And Elastagirl looks too short (I know she’s just a bit behind the daughter).

I’m sorry I’m not going to read your comment because I noticed you quoted Nietzsche in there when I was skimming it.

I find it interesting that a non-American has so much information about the movement, especially given how much the American media misrepresents it to be exactly what you’ve described it to be.

nice try slipping black lives matter in there.
