Until the ball leaves the field the play is still alive, so all of the normal rules (like base running, in this case) still apply. The home run part of this is a bit of a red herring.

I hate to be the person that has to correct you, but the Masters is a golf tournament.
Nobody outside the hash for Clemson on this play and then on the KO returned for a TD, Clemson had everyone bunched together on the kickoff only to let Drake get the edge. Incredibly poor ST play by Clemson.
This isn’t the local YMCA. This is a pro locker room, regularly filled with dozens of reporters and their cameras. Tom Brady is well aware of that.
“I apologize if I offended him back then.
I love how white men that claim to live in fear of ‘government tyranny’ and believe that it is righteous to rebel against it are the first ones to insist that all black people should strictly obey every police officer like a submissive dog.

According to the rulebook, a player is not allowed to throw a glove in an attempt to stop a ball, whether it be batted or thrown, and i think the result of that infraction is awarding the runner 2 bases. Not only should Fowler NOT been out, he should have been awarded 3rd base.
