I’m a 41 year old dad who also lives in a very urban area surrounded by not so urban areas.  My suggestion?  Take the MSF, get your license, and then do daily rentals for a while.  There’s a spot up in San Fran called dubleju or something like that who rents interesting bikes to ride the PCH, and there are several

I can see “unions had their place”, but I struggle with “Unions are necessary”.  Might just be my experience, though.

Pretty sure those are to scare the deer away.

Jalopnik is a Union shop, you’re going to get grayed.

In other news, New Yorkers are inconsiderate jerks. I travel N. America for business about 75%, and NY/NJ just takes the cake for casually horrible people.

Isn’t that kind of true with all Hyundais?  They don’t hold their value well, and cars with high depreciation usually lease poorly.

I had a mustang GT drop top for a week as a rental.  It brought out the absolute worst in me, and I loved every moment.  I would never buy one, but I sent a picture to my 9 year old son, and he thinks I’m cooler now.

No problem - I wasn’t very clear, which is probably why I’m forever in the grays!

7%?  The market averages 10%.  If you’re getting 7%, you’re doing it wrong.

    Are you forgetting interest?

I just used the 401k calculator on Bankrate.com with a 12% average return.

Average Mutual rate return is right about 10%. 12% isn’t hard to achieve. Compound interest is an amazing thing.

Mutual funds.  Stock market has averaged just under 10% since 1965.  Real estate has averaged 22%, but that is very time and resource intensive, pretty much a second job.

The Average yearly return on the S&P from 1965 to 2015 is just under 10%.  If you pick good mutual funds with consistent growth, 11-12% isn’t hard.

Or, if you’re 30 with a household income of 70k, save 10% with an employer match of 4%, and get a 3% raise a year. Retire at 65, and you’ll have $5.8m.

They love it, but it still sucks.

Maybe the next version will be desirable.

Hey, we should let the federal government manage more of our life. I mean, they’re doing pretty well with Amtrak!

Because of the millions of starving people in his country?

I like how the massive drug trafficing part is buried in the fourth paragraph.
