Better social services would be great, but politically and economically aren't on the horizon any time soon. Reality is what the situation is in the here and now. Minors who become pregnant and want an abortion don't have time to wait for legislators to get their shit together and better find social services.

Right, the protections provided here are not generally needed in good and happy situations/scenarios. It’s about keeping an already hard situation from getting unnecessarily worse.
