I really wish I could find masks (cloth or otherwise) that were constructed with eyeglass wearers in mind. Some masks fit “fairly” well, but it’s hard to find a mask that is — and remains — snug over the bridge of the nose and upper cheeks. Nose wires are no guarantee of that.

Yup, whoever was putting HP sauce into their chip butty was doing it wrong. I mean, it’s not unheard of to use brown sauce, but yecch.

Deservedly a classic.

The haunting music and open spaces of Sigur Rós - Route One is worth a look. I remember semi-watching it with my husband... admittedly a little bored at first (when it starts out in Reykjavík), then gradually mesmerized as the countryside appeared. And becoming genuinely excited when we saw another car! Or passed a

I wonder if unisex products suffer from their lack of gender branding. For example: I’m cis-female, and my favourite deodorant was a “men’s” Old Spice deodorant — the one called Amber. It had a subtle vanillic scent, very pleasant. But, it was discontinued a year or so ago, much to my dismay. Apparently it was popular

Vinegar smells amazing! It reminds me of the hours I spent in my university darkroom. The stop bath made me crave fish and chips.

Speaking as a non-American, I have never understood why you should have to register with a party to be able to vote. While that registration doesn’t mean you can’t follow your heart in the voting booth, it still seems to violate the principle of a secret ballot.

My experience with a friend who forever leans towards gullibility and conspiracy theories is that it’s her way of retaking control (in her imagination) in a scary world. If she can dismiss vaccines as being ineffective/carrying their own risks/being another Chinese plot, she doesn’t have to risk whatever getting poked

I deleted my first Facebook account after a friend-of-a-friend became incensed that I hadn’t accepted their Friend request, and started commenting bitterly about it on our friend-in-common’s posts. Then our friend-in-common started nudging me to accept their request and be chatty. I mean — why? I didn’t know this

Technically, when it’s coming out of a bear.

It’s honestly pretty tasty! I find cauli rice is at its best when it’s “fried” quickly in a small amount of oil... a touch of browning gives it a slightly rice-like texture. But because it’s not as filling as real rice, you may want to adjust the amount of cauli rice or its topping accordingly. I use it all the time

Now we know why her cat is slightly hostile!

Early in December we sent a birthday card with gift certificate* to a friend we hadn’t seen for a while. Uncharacteristically, we didn’t hear back. Sent him an e-mail asking en passant if he’d received our card. It turned out he hadn’t checked his mailbox for a couple of weeks, as he’d broken his ankle! (He was

Not the person you said this to, but I didn’t know, so thank you!

Every so often I go onto Reddit, remove all the real-life subreddits and just leave the heartwarming ones. My faves include r/aww, r/HumansBeingBros, r/MadeMeSmile, and r/PuppyBellies. (And also r/WhatWeDointheShadows, because everything about that series makes me laugh!)

There’s also my fave Christmas/seasonal song of all time - Joni Mitchell’s “River”. Melancholy, beautiful, aching, and not at all overfamiliar.

Here’s an original song that’s so melodic, warm and full of love, it brings tears to my cynical ol’ eyes.
