I used to love Ask Reddit for that reason, too. Even though redditors here will go on about only following small subreddits, I enjoyed the front page for seeing what’s popular with general society.

Actually, those awful places tend to leak out into every major subreddit in the form of shitty jokes that are upvoted through the roof. The place is a cesspool with a convenient tarp floating on top.
