Yup. Other than the incredible acceleration, it was... boring. I didn't feel the slightest bit connected to the car.

Holy fucking '90s GeoCities website, batman.

I'm fairly certain it has a decent launch control system, but you still have to shift. ;)

Nurburgring? Probably not; setting a good time on that track is 50% having a good car, 50% knowing the track. I bet I could get proportionally closer to the GT-R's best achieved time in one than I could the ZR-1's best time in one of those on that track, though.

I lost it at Steve McNair.

I don't hate. I disregard. It's a fantastic machine, and an unbelievable computing device. From a driver's perspective, it's utter shit. You don't actually control a single element of its operation, with the possible exception of the brakes, and even then only sometimes. You just ask it to do something, and you cannot

All that tells me is that the ZR-1 is more of a car than the GT-R is. Any fucktard clown can operate a GT-R to those times. It's like playing NFS: Shift in easy mode. Just get it sort of close and the computer'll do the rest for you.

The difference is that USA actually had real tanks to back their fake shit up. Like, thousands and thousands of them. There's a difference in trying to save your soldiers' lives by convincing the enemy to attack fake tanks, and trying to pretend to the rest of the world that you aren't a sad sack of shit, and failing

Ooh, 17.5 Knotts!

Joe Average North Korean learned a long time ago that thinking brings nothing good. They strenuously avoid it.

Not unless the FBI, CIA, or NSA really, really, really, really, REALLY want to know what was on it.

There are pretty big signs saying "DO NOT BE ANYWHERE THE FUCK NEAR THIS THING WHEN IT GOES OFF". It's got a two-man switch, a la nuclear missile silo!

Also, sledgehammers, crow-bars and/or (preferably and) oxy-acetylene torches are accepted methods of ensuring drive destruction.

I'm in the DOD (USN), and, uh, we just use degaussers when we have to dispose of classified hard drives. We use ones like these - [tinyurl.com] or these - [tinyurl.com]

<3.

DAMN. Been years since I saw that movie! Totally got me there.

Also, regarding iDevice charging - Apple used Firewire charging (+12VDC), which was convenient for a number of reasons. Recently though (don't know exactly when), Apple got cheap and removed the Firewire chips from many of their devices, which means they couldn't charge over FW any more - they charged via +5VDC USB

We in the Navy use really old-school cable management - cable lacing. It is prevalent especially in aircraft wiring.

You take that back! The SHO is one sexy beast of a car.

While I will take Gizmodo's word that this is a great knife sharpener (as I have no reason to believe it's not), I have personally found this to be the best compromise between ease of use and results -
