Because not trying to find out the root cause of the problem means the problem never gets solved.

And I clearly really don't care about what you're saying. I would be quite interested in knowing the American birthrate broken down by geographical region, though. I'm willing to bet that the birthrate in the south (AKA the bible belt) is a lot higher than elsewhere in the country. And sure, it might be because…
That's completely different... developing countries have high fertility rates because of lack of education and access to birth control. America has no excuse; it is a developed country, and people ought to damn know better. But they don't, because God said multiply!
Alright, I'll give you that. It is mostly Catholics. Please tell me why they aren't considered a terrorist organization? They scare the shit out of me.
Oh, I bet I know of one way to escape these traps.
I blame Christians and their dogged insistence on not using birth control.
Well the sad reality of the matter is, it's not about whether it's practical - it's whether it's affordable.
A few points:
The answer to that question, as I mentioned in my comment above, was that it wasn't needed, and they took it out starting with the USS Ronald Reagan.
The machinery and technology required to dissipate that much energy is much, much, much more simple and robust (not to mention easier to maintain) than the machinery and technology required to capture and harness that energy. Frankly, it just wouldn't be worth it.
Well I'm just an avionics tech. I suppose I don't fix the jets themselves, but I do repair all the radars, radios, navigation and weapons computers... basically anything with a transistor in it. I am soon going to transfer to an E-2C Hawkeye squadron (yes, that's where I got my name), so that's gonna be pretty sweet.
Silent But Somewhat Interesting.
Google "Individual Augmentee" and you'll learn all about this concept. I spent a year with the 5-5 ADA, 31st Brigade. I shot down mortars. That's why there's a CIWS as my avatar. I fix fighter jets for a living, btw.
I think they put "Chance" in there because unless you are sporting a six-pack and play rugby for fun on a regular basis, there is no way in hell you're going to get anywhere near, much less in a tackling position of, an average LFL player. Sure, they're in bras, but they will outrun your ass in a heartbeat.
If my ship gets blown up, whether my uniform blends in with the water or not is among the least of my problems.
I know this; I still have two sets of ACUs and two sets of FRACUs as mementos. They will also use DCUs if they're in Navy units, as opposed to being embedded in Army units.
This is half true. The old Utilities were notorious for attracting every source of stainage within a mile radius. Once you got one smudge on them, they were useless. You had to throw them away. Thus, we'd go through 10-30 utility shirts a year, at about $20-30 a pop, depending on if you paid for embroidery work or…
I'm getting a really strong sense of deja vu. I think.... oh no, wait, it's everybody in the 50s and 60s going "Well hell, we don't need guns on fighters any more! Guns will never be used again! Every battle will be fought solely with missiles!"
