RB engine you say?
Was this the kid?
I mentioned that the sticker helps add 25K in ‘value’
Take 15K Jeep CJ7. Add Ford motor and new trans, some LEDs, maybe a sticker. Now it’s a 50K Jeep! Just like Tyrese!
The I6 could still make sense in light truck applications since they tend to be torquey down low, but it makes zero sense to keep a single engine form factor around just for one platform. Far easier to bring over a V6 or V8 from a car line. Small displacement diesels are gaining a foothold in America as well so the…
Dear Ford:
Independent Portal Boxes all the way around, please.
Thank You,
I’d say any Tesla. Badge engineering today exists due to two factors
1. The need to keep dealers happy even as product homogenization happened
2. World market segment economies of scale (to a lesser degree)
In the early days up to maybe the 70's, car brands were engineered separately. A Buick was a Buick, with a Buick…
That’s a knock-off - not another FCA division trying to pass a Wrangler off as something different.
Or the K-cars from the 80's. The Reliant K and Aries K are visually indistinguishable - I don’t even think they bothered to use different grilles, and both used the generic Pentastar logo out front. They even had the balls to try and turn one into a badge-engineered Maserati.
Was that like, in the Port Huron Statement, man?
If people don’t think a delicious Coney is worth the risk of getting shot at, I don’t know what is wrong with their value system. Or their opinion of Coneys.
Guy wants to dump his Fusion over reliability concerns, and is swiftly pointed towards two German cars that will probably develop a short in the glovebox lamp that it turns out is the nerve center of the car’s CANBUS and costs $10K and three weeks of downtime to fix, one Chrysler product which will develop 10,000…
Coyote X. Prototype never raced because it’s builder died under shady circumstances so it was stolen by his brother and used to fight crime until his murderers could be brought to justice

It’s a bike sharing service to take you to your ride sharing service that gets you to your bus that takes you to your train that drops you at the airport so you can fly somewhere exotic and walk the whole time.
Towing home a new project car = terrible gas mileage AND all kinds of kickassery.
1200 lbs for a transfer case and front diff? Knuckle-to-knuckle a Dana 60 1-ton front axle doesn’t even weigh half that, and a tcase maybe adds 150 more lbs. And that’s for a 1-ton pickup. No way the parts needed to handle a V6 worth of torque come in over a few hundred lbs at most.
Is it too soon for the ‘VTEC kicked in, yo’ jokes? Are those played yet?
The Young Garlic Soup at Jean-Georges is worth $148 all by itself.

+1 on the parking brake/hot spot thing - I had an unsolvable braking studder on my first vehicle many years ago. I thought the rotors had warped and yet on inspection they had not. Every time I’d apply the brakes it would studder.
Turns out I had put a hot spot in the drum doing the very thing you said.
