I know it was a bit, but man, by the time Conan was screaming and chugging hot sauce directly from the bottle, I was actually starting to get a little worried.

Having an oversimplified and negative view about tens of millions of people is a great way to combat racism.  Way to go!

I beg to differ.

The scene where he flails trying to keep the bathroom stall door open is an absolutely perfect piece of physical comedy.

A substantially worse Taxi Driver -AND- King of Comedy. Given the viewing habits of most of the current younger audience, it probably doesn’t matter. They haven’t seen either of the originals. When my kids (both Gen Z age) saw Avatar for the first time, they didn’t respond negatively to the similarities to Ferngully,

At the very least New York, New York is significantly less well-trodden ground for Scorsese knockoffs.

There’s only musical-sequel-to-a-dark-movie I recognise:

It’s become one of my favorite films. Pitch-perfect tone, compelling 70s throwback setting, wonderful comedic timing, the best father-daughter relationship portrayed on film...I love so much about it.

It’s so fucking good. And whoever did the casting should’ve gotten all the awards. From Gosling and Crowe having excellent chemistry, to even Crowe’s wife (her five seconds of screen time are just amazing conveying a sense of awkward contempt, embarrassment, and awkwardness with “I’m fucking your father”).

Honestly, comparatively staid as it might be, a more straighforward doc is something I’d prefer. I loved Kims—anyone want a multi-regional DVI progressive scan Malata dvd player? My first adult purchase from Kim’s—but love it as I do, I’ve read up on it over the years (there was a good Village Voice (rip) sum up a

The fact that I love both “Rolling Thunder” and “Ms 45" probably gives my age away. Rolling Thunder, I think, introduced me to Tommy Lee Jones but it’s the William Devane waste disposal scene that always struck with me and still makes me nervous around kitchen appliances. Ms 45 might have been my first Abel Ferrara

Oldboy?

A bit like the character of Billy Quizboy on the Venture Bros. He was a former child genius but people aren't that impressed by him as an adult.

Star-Lord, man! The legendary outlaw?

Is Diggstown good? That’s the one I think of. I love it, but I’m not sure it’s good.

He was a hysterical idiot that was all in on the moral panic of slashers in the 80's

Easier to do from 30,000 feet.

Probably worth noting that the Westies were a real gang.  They show up in the underrated State of Grace film.  Lot of notable weirdos like Mickey Fetherstone and Mickey Spillane.

RIP. His college roommate was William Devane, which might be the best college roommate pairing since Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones.

Walsh and Harry Dean Stanton were the kings of the secondary character actor who you always are happy to see even in bit parts.  Of course his best is Blood Simple but even something as minor as his Jerk role is memorable as can be.  Sad to see him go.
