What’s your budget like? I swear by Cole Haan. Most of their shoes have the Nike Air footbeds, so they’re super comfy. They will set you back, price-wise, but they’re high quality. If you’re looking for something more budget friendly, I would look at Naturalizer or Clark’s for some basic work-appropriate footwear.

Would TOMS be too casual?

Aerosoles has a really good collection of flats with arch support this season, and many of them are definitely work-worthy. You could possibly go with a low block heel round toe shoe. Low block heels offer a lot of stability and are easy to walk distances in.

Cobb Hill makes some comfortable, wide, business shoes

I live in loafers and oxfords at work!

Naot and Clarks and J-41 are my favorite comfortable shoes that work for the office.

I just get the $2 ones from Target here in Australia and they have a little sticky latex part on the heel (like the tops of stay up stockings) and that really helps them stay in place. So maybe keep an eye out for pairs like that.

I think they’re pretty true to size, but the leather has some give, which is the only reason my feet fit. I’d say order 2 pairs of different sizes and return the pair that doesn’t fit so well.

Ballet flats for sure, but I would suggest definitely wearing those tiny sock-ish shoe liners at least or they will get smelly fast.

All the professional women who rode the commuter bus back when I had a regular job in a real city (sigh) wore sneakers to work and changed shoes when they got there, and then changed back to head home. I know because I saw one lady who always wore incongruous white cross trainers running for the bus in dress shoes,

Oh hai fellow wide feet-haver!

I used to spend a lot of hours walking on marble floors, and strongly endorse Sofft brand shoes - even their heels were comfortable for me for hours. Aerosoles were a decent runner up.

I have some flats from Clarks that I love. I wear them while teaching (which means lots of time on my feet) and even walking back and forth to my car (which I usually have to park .25/.5 miles away from the building). I don’t think they make the ones I have anymore, but it’s probably worth browsing their selection.

My go to work shoes are naot Mary Janes, the model I like is called ‘trendy’. The are super comfy, I can (and have) stood in them all day, and I started wearing them when I moved to a building where I needed to walk~1/2 from my car to my desk. They do start to get stinky after wearing them without socks for a while,

Maybe something from Propet or Naturalizer.

I own several of these and these flats. They come in many more colors than I’m seeing online, are cheap and comfy, and you can always find new ones to add to your collection. I also just got these (have also seen them in store at Saks Off Fifth, Marshall’s, and Nordstrom Rack recently) and am obsessed—they feel like

Question can you bring the less comfy shoes to work and get a good pair of slip on walking sneakers?

It’s melanin! I love that I have it, lol.
