There is no easy way. It’s going to suck no matter what you do.
My minisplit indoor unit overflowed once a year because the drain tube would get blocked with schmutz that I assume was dirt and algae. I put a stop to it by using ‘pan strips’ that slowly leach anti-biologic something-or-other into the condensate pan, keeping the tubes clear. Replace once a year. There are various…
The lede image is of the inside unit of a minisplit, which I cool and short-term heat my house with. The filters stop a lot of gunk, but even so there’s a lot of crap that builds up on the coils of those things. I have to tear down, clean, and reassemble the wall unit once a year and when I do it is like I just got a…
Multi-driver memory. I think this every time I get in my car after my wife was driving and get stuck between the seat back and steering wheel before I get sat down. There is absolutely no reason every car with electric do-dads and key fobs shouldn’t have the seat, mirror, radio, etc, etc settings linked to the key fob…
I don’t hate self-checkout. In fact, I love it. But the people occupying the self-checkout kiosks are infuriating.
Thank you. I rarely get good actionable info on here any more. I will be doing this at some point in the next 48hr.

They will attempt a catch and they know full well it isn’t going to work the first time, but they’re OK with it. From a recent interview, regarding the catch
Ooo. Thank you for aticulating that feeling I’ve been having so accurately. That’s satisfying.
I’m calling b.s. on the inclusion of American Auto. Of course the cars were bad, that was the whole point. Calling out AA would be like having a list called “The Worst Representations of the Horrors of the Middle Ages” and including Monty Python and The Holy Grail in the list.
I’ve traveled Southwest Chief and Texas Eagle a number of times. Lamb shanks for dinner, black bean burger for lunch was my go-to. Both were dang good. I still think about them from time to time. Priced a little higher on the menu than I’d be willing to pay in a restaurant for the quality they were, but they weren’t…
Yes, in American you don’t take the train to get where you’re going quickly.
This is my favorite version of tamarind candy. Maybe it is nostalgic because reminds me of push-up pops from when I was a kid.
If we’re going to a grocery store for pizza then we’re going for “cheap pizza”, as opposed to “pizza” which comes from a restaurant. For cheap pizza you can’t do better than Totino’s. Is it a quality pizza? Absolutely not. But it is dirt cheap, pizza-like, and quite tasty, e.g. “cheap pizza”.
It ain’t a dry heat.
My philosophy is a variation on that comparing costs/value idea, but the concept of ‘when repairs exceed market value’ strikes me as a misunderstanding of a car’s place in our life. It treats the car as if it is an investment whose value you are constantly analyzing. Now, there are some people for whom cars are…
I considered it, but only briefly. Unfortunately our 100+ degree days frequently come with 80-100% RH. Chilling the floors too much is likely to result in wet concrete, both somewhat dangerous and disgusting when it mixes with the dust that is so bad in our rural area.
I know this is a thing, because I do it, but I’m wondering how effective it is in situations unlike my own.
