I didn’t learn until like decades later than she did it because she was routinely abused. All I knew at the time was the “crazy bitch” narrative that she randomly cut of her husband’s penis. Goes to show what the media cared about.

22! I forgot (never realized?) how young she was. I’m also not sure if I ever knew she was an immigrant, and how that was weaponized against her - so much vulnerability. My heart aches for her.
I’ll hold your hand while we run away screaming.
“I’m a tremendous fan of his as an actor so it’s really cool to be directed by someone like that because, basically, you just want to do whatever they tell you so you can try to be as good as they are.”
Maybe a super contagious cold goes around and society becomes a chaotic dystopia because all the men think they’re dying.
I am just amazed at all the weird things that can happen and grateful people like her exist and because of her reach/exposure she is able to help people who cannot afford treatment.
The plot sounds a bit similar to a book I read called The Book of the Unnamed Midwife, where a pandemic kills mostly women and children, and pregnant women in particular are vulnerable (and if they survive to give birth, the babies are often stillborn and then the woman dies). However, a large part of the book focuses…
Either it’s a society without women, or a society in which women are rare (the mother character). Either way, hard pass.
Have you ever watched Monster Bug Wars? The sound effects they use are absolutely hilarious.
So, I think we’ve cracked the mystery on how the good Doctor can stay so thin
I’ve never ventured in these posts/comments section because I’ve had no interest (not insulting those who do! I get it, but not for me). This one intrigued me.
Some happiness in case anyone is dry having into a trash barrel:
Douchey Bar Guy: I’ve got to say you’re making me horny.
I do not think it is too late. How old are you? If you are older than 60 it may be too late. But the older you are, the less you actually have to pay off your student loans! Do you know how many people are jealous of you? How many people would love to just be able to die to get out of their debt? Sounds like a win-win…
As a Canadian I am ASTOUNDED that your entire country just goes around with all these untreated diseases. Up north there’s NO WAY any of these would have lasted more than a couple months before they were dealt with expediently and cheaply by Medicare.
Who ever did the sound design for that horn extraction should get an Emmy for Most Stomach Turning Sound Effects.
Am I imagining things, or did the production staff take some liberties with a few sound effects? I feel like this removal was a bit “enhanced” in the sound department. I’ve watched thousands of these things and have never heard a Pilar cyst sounding like jelly between the fingers.
Every week it seems I’m more horrified by the people on this show who have to rely on a television program paying to diagnose and treat their gross medical issues than I am about the gross medical issues themselves. (Although, admittedly, the horn was particularly skeevy but fun to watch.)
It’s a skill sport like anything else. If you’re a dumb unskilled race car driver then no amount of roll cages and safety equipment are going to protect you. You’re likely going to crash and die.
Yeah, I officially don’t read books by boys anymore (though I make exceptions for book club and highly-recommended-by-non-white-dudes books) and that avoids a lot of the problems. I meant only that I don’t accept the “separate the art from the artist” argument AT ALL unless the person is dead b/c then at least he’s…
