I haven’t had a miscarriage that I’m aware of, but I’m currently almost 9 weeks along with my second soon-to-be-child-inshallah so miscarriage is certainly on my mind. My first response to this was just fuck off Rick Scott. I find it ghoulish and weird, though I guess some people may find comfort in a piece of paper.

And this gives credence to that (I’ve fallen down a profoundly disturbing wormhole and need to get out NOW)

And some people like to be beaten. And not in the “oh hey I’m so kinky spank me please honey” pseudo-BDSM kind of way, I’ve never seen any discussion of it ever but I’d be very interested to know if she was ever diagnoed as a sexual masochist (or even sadomasochist).

Bowing with your hands together isn’t “faux-Japanese”, it’s real, formal Japanese. I have way less of an issue with someone performing the bow (they’d have to learn to do it anyway as it would be a part of formal greetings while travelling there), than what the rest of the team is up to...

Too late to edit, realize my negative isn’t working - should read: “merely for the sake of not preventing, or preventing preventing, or...” wait no, need a positive: “abetting/enabling the fertilzation etc.”?

The regulation chastises the original ACA religious exemptions for excluding “non-profit organizations that have an objection to contraceptions based on moral convictions but not religious principles”

A bit off topic maybe... My parents were born in 1950 to devout Catholic families - my dad came out as gay when I was a kid in the very early 80s, but didn’t tell his parents or siblings for several months. His family, who had always been warm and welcoming, treated my mother like *shit* for “daring to leave” my dad.

Oh wow, we have the pets with family names too (they’re under my last name) but I can’t believe your vet office is that intransigent (or dense) about it...

See this is possibly the case except that the boss couched it as “some of your co-workers told me...” nonsense. That is some passive agressive concern-trolly shit. If she was a good boss and Bouning Betty was actually a little overthetop-intimidating-confident-bulldozer, she would take the approach that your boss did

Omichristonacracker... I am late to this conversation obviously but I had to respond to this part: My boss said that she thinks these people might just be insecure but she wanted me to know for “my own professional development”.

That’s how it’s done in Scandinavia by default (maternal surname as middle name). My partner and I also, though not remotely Scandinavian, did that with our daughter’s name, no hyphens.

I’ve had mistakes go both ways - my partner (we’re living in sin but it’s legal in Ontario) has been Mr. Harmolecule more often than I’ve been Mrs Whatsit but both have happened, and our daughter (who has both our names but unhyphenated), has been referred to with either or both. I don’t even bother correcting, who

Oh no annoyance taken - and frankly compared to Trumpistan Canada is kind of a bastion of progressive values at the moment... I just know we can be better :)

And no financiers/brokers/money guys AT ALL!

Yes. HL but couched in much more progressive rhetoric (and *some* actions, to be fair), but that’s what bothers me the most about Trudeau et al., the corporate schilling is revolting.

I’m about half and half on their record. I’m a fed so I see it in action, I’d say I like about half what the Liberals have done (and I’m not a “liberal” voter, I’m way more fringe - the NDP went too far to the right for me under Mulcair). Anyway, I do think that while a lot of the Cabinet is strong, the Ministers do

Yeah I should probably stop bitching when Americans are in the room :) He’s not bad at all, I just want more, there’s too much Liberal gamesmanship going on (they’re *very* industry and money friendly and I would be thrilled for that aspect of Trudeau’s government to just be gone - can we puh-leeze actually become

Yeah, there’s other stuff you can shame him for (but I can’t do it at work, hint hint), but being a teacher is not one of them. That said, from what I’ve heard, he wasn’t a particularly *great* teacher...

He was a bit of a slack teacher though... And he does (or at least did, from what I know of him around town) kind of try and let his charm carry the day for him... I don’t think he’s substance-*less*, but I do think he’s overrated...

This. People completely underestimate the simple but critical benefits of staying away from the office for a few days to just recharge. I took 3 weeks last spring because of health and asshole boss issues (was magical), but even a long weekend can completely reset you to deal with just the ordinary stressors... And
