Is that sign “No Justice No Peace” being used to protest the DNC, or being held in support of BLM? Because if it’s the former... that seems really, really tone deaf, white Bernie supporters.

Exactly! Bernie has the freedom to be a lefty, to be an everyman, to demand progressive priorities and look like a schlub (I saw many of his supporters tout the “he doesn’t care how his hair looks!” thing as a plus) doing it. Hillary has had to walk a very narrow path for her entire life in the spotlight, and she is

I think that’s a dangerous game to play. I know you don’t mean it this way, but I do feel that any female nominee would be met with objections of “I’ve wanted a female presidential nominee for a long time, just not this female presidential nominee.” All candidates have faults, but female candidates are expected to be

JE has been pretty fucking snarky about Hillary this primary season. I agree with Mrs. Beeton.

Have to admit I teared up when the woman from the South Dakota delegation said “the first president to be called Madame President” while casting the decisive votes.

I loved the difference between Mike’s mom and dad. His mom was slightly clueless but knew something was weird, and very invested in all of her children. The dad was wrong about literally everything. Everything that man said was 100% false. I also loved how he was sleeping through a bunch of important scenes.

It was the same house, cleaned up.

You don’t have to sing to EGOT. You can win a Tony for acting in a play (non-musical) and a Grammy for narrating an audiobook (Hillary Clinton has a Grammy).

Y’all, Dustin was THE BEST part of Stranger Things. THE BEST.

Or none have been reported to the administration (not including employees who are not mandated reporters).

This is going to sound weird, but having reported rapes IS good. Rape occurs on college campuses just as it does in the real world, we know this. I would much rather my campus have an increase in reports than it stay the same, because 0 reports means that the rape occurred and it went unreported, so there is no

Do you ever go to r/enoughsandersspam? Quite possibly my fave subreddit, EVER. They are having a field day right now with all the S4P posts.

ObviouslyI am not referring to drinking/consensual sex, that would be fucked up (looking at you, BYU). Rape is a violation of the code of conduct, as is punching someone, as is destroying college property when you're drunk. Should colleges be unable to discipline students for those violations as well, since they are

Oy vey, seriously. As a female college admin, and one who got into this biz specifically to make higher ed a safer, more welcoming place for ALL students (and really, everyone I know in student affairs is coming from the same place), I seriously sideye those dudes you are talking about.

This is the main one I was thinking about: https://www.buzzfeed.com/emaoconnor/all… I have seen commenters allege in comment sections that they are women who were expelled for rape, but of course those are anonymous commenters.

Ah, sorry, I misread your post, my bad. I am always on such high alert on these articles due to armchair lawyers who think they know how to run a college simply because they’ve been to one and I missed the fact that I agree with you!

Schools aren’t trying students for a crime. They are deciding whether or not a student has violated their student code of conduct, and whether or not the student poses a danger to other students on campus. I mean, what do you propose a school does? Nothing? Everyone is acting like schools are going around expelling

And, if they did violate due process, I think it is fine for a student to sue the school. After matriculating into a school, students have property rights over their progress toward a degree, and as such they have due process rights if the school wants to take that away from them. If the schools follow OCR guidelines,

My preferred solution is to open an investigation into if the rapist has violated the honor code by committing rape.

Men are not the only ones being kicked out of colleges, and if you pay attention you will see that administrators (such as myself) are incredibly careful to use gender-neutral language around this. Women are expelled for rape and/or sexual assault as well.
