My wife - then girlfriend - had an 84 Escort. Same button, you must push it to manage uphill highway ramps.

My 1993 Sentra E 5-speed would do the same — turning off the air conditioning was worth a downshift when going uphill!

I had an 83 Subaru with the same button. Once coming over Echo Summit on US50 in California, I was going downhill with the AC on, floored, and I was slowing down.

I had a used ‘86 but the A/C didn’t work. I found that if you monkied with the carb a bit, you could get 60 mpg on the highway. Found out later it was the ‘MPG’ model and had an EPA 58 mpg highway. It was fun to chuck around and had a MASSIVE sunroof.

Counterpoint:

My stepmother’s four dour Civic hatch from the early-90s had this same turbo button. I was able to complete the motion of a/c button off/clutch engaged/downshift to 4th/clutch disengaged very smoothly and efficiently. It was like switching to ludicrous speed, if “ludicrous speed” was defined as passing a truck on the

As an Irishman, I see no issues with either the strut tower brace or the 1000 spf sunscreen in the dark.

I’ve had those turbo buttons in lots of cars, but the one it seemed to work best in was my old 91 Honda Accord. It was like a completely different car when you pressed it. The current ‘03 Miata sees a little bit of a boost from using it, but in the also current ‘08 M5, it doesn’t seem to do anything to make the car

Probably no more than any other 31 year old car. 3 decades on the road takes a toll on everything.

You dont need high hp to feel the benefits of a strut bar. I put one on my 96 Saturn Sl2 (when I had one many years ago) and it made a noticeable improvement on the handling of the car. That car had a whopping 124 hp.

What SquareFour said. I had an ‘86 Nissan Sentra, pretty much a similar platform. The only thing that makes this car sporty with 122 hp is the 1,900 lb curb weight. The car isn’t that rigid, especially with T-tops AND a removable hatch. I would postulate that one might seriously consider making the entire suspension

not everyone wants to drive a hearse for little people mr. fort.

Nah, man, that strut tower brace might just be all that’s keeping the front-end of the car square. Shit wears out, and that includes uni-bodies.

COTD, I just wished the story had a dessert-based ending

The floor flange screwed down to the bed offends me, as does the dollar store bolt latch. This will withstand 1 1/2 to 2 solid bumps. I can only imagine how little thought went into the rest of the build.

You mean Donkey Sauce!

This comment is everything.

We’re at a funky joint in Vermont crankin out the holiest of grail Jeeps.

No way I’d attempt to make that drive in a Jeep; it’d be certain to break down halfway.

Now you may think that’s a little too second pig for your tastes, and the seller does admit as much by noting that a metal bed was in the cards. It seems he’s just not gotten around to it.
