This sounds an awful lot like when they tried to make that TV show about Silence of the Lambs, but without Hannibal Lecter.

A big part of the original movie was the soundtrack with music from The Cure, NIN, etc. If you’re gonna have a goth movie, you need the goth soundtrack to go with it.

There was something like this in San Francisco several years ago. It was pretty big for a while, but it was obviously just another fad.
