"All women are beautiful to someone." is a nice thought, and I wish it were true as there is something to love in every human being (God finds plenty (yeah GOD, sorrynotsorry)).

Ugh, I hate that kind of pandering. All women/people are not beautiful. Are conventional norms absurdly narrow? Yes. That doesn't mean that we're all beautiful. Which is good, 'cause there are a hundred other attributes that need their time in the sun.

The photo would be removed out of respect?!? How about, the photo will be reposted in its original condition out of respect?

Hey Kirk, you really shouldn't be alienating all us Jews and Muslims and Hindus and other non-Christmas-celebrators out there with this "war on Christmas" stuff. Know why? Because we're the ones who have your back and are constantly reminding people that Christmas is about Christ. Casual Christian person: "Why don't

You sound like an awesome parent. I never had somebody talk to me about drinking, and was oblivious of the risks I was taking when I got very drunk. Now I look back and realise that I was vulnerable and damn lucky nothing happened to me.

Far from it. Men don't have to rape. Men shouldn't rape.

Eh, I am related to two people who go into anaphylactic shock when they eat mushrooms. Doesn't mean the mushrooms are poisonous.

I can vouch for this.

I can say with certainty that binge drinking drastically increases the likelihood of sexual assault happening to the binge drinker. (It happened to black-out drunk 16 year old me, twice.) I am fully prepared to get a whole bunch of flack for this. People of the world, if your drinking is causing you to puke or

The victim and the state have to prove guilt. That's the way it is for all crime.

However your assertion doesn't deal with the very real problem that a inebriated victim is never a reliable witness and thus must rely on evidence that may not be available. Life isn't CSI and frequently these kinds of trials can be won or lost based purely on "apparent character" which is hard to argue when your

Uh, newsflash:

Exactly. Who hasn't had super drunken sex where both parties are equally impaired? If that's rape then I've been raped by most of my boyfriends.

Couldn't agree more. The judge is in no way blaming women, like you said, she's merely describing the reality of a juror's task. There are standards of evidence and those are hard to meet when the only evidence provided is testimony by someone who was too impaired to be credible.

This is something that has always been confusing to me...the only people I've ever seen too drunk to remember the previous night were obviously drunk and obviously not capable of consenting to anything.

Not getting sloshed to the point that you're cross-eyed and drinking straight out the wine bottle is good advice for any almost any situation.

Even if the man might have been equally drunk? If two drunk people have sex, are you really going to say that it is always rape? Who raped whom then?

Some people are still trying to decide if Jez wants discussion or an echo chamber. It seems to be leaning towards the latter, and in that case it should probably stop calling itself a feminist website.

where was she blaming the victim?

Maybe do a better job of using evidence in the case to prove the rapist is guilty? Just a thought.
