Oh, I’m not disagreeing. IIRC, Leia looked shocked/unwell/something before she went to commune with the Force/Ben/Reaper. I just wanted some context other than “well, guess I’ll die today...”

I really have enjoyed the kindle (or kindle app on other devices) for that reason--both individual weighty books or something like a vacation trip where I’ll read 5 books in a week-and it’s so much easier to transport.
That’s what I heard and, frankly, my mental state currently would not support that. I sort of regret how much time I spend on “fluffy” media right now, but sometimes a retreat to Jeeves saving Bertie over and over is what I need. (Or x-wings attacking a station or the Baylor sisters fighting evil plots or pick the…
I just realized that last night, myself. And I considered that I haven’t watched anything on the service but Mando and ten minutes of TFA just to fill time one day. And I immediately realized that I will keep paying just for that stinking little green puppet.
Big tech is everywhere. Actively considering choices, like you lay out, makes the most sense to me. I’m going to dig out and charge my old Kindle later. I used to have an original that had the free wireless so I could sync a new book whenever I wrapped the old, but it bricked and the new ones don’t do that. I drifted…
I actively avoid BSG because the fans are such zealots and so intense on the “you MUST watch this or you do not like science fiction.” Maybe in another few years...or maybe not.
I’ve already cut Twitter out almost entirely and am following with much of the rest of social media.
I think this conversation makes it clear I am decidedly uncool. But I do see where you are coming from, even if I disagree. Now that’s some good old fashioned SW conversation and debate...
She’s not in charge of anything, per the movie. She’s a Jedi, arguably, with a strong Force connection. She hasn’t (on screen) seized power, donned a crown or done anything but bury some lightsabers and claim the name Skywalker.
How did he win? Yeah, his kid’s kid is out there, doing whatever she does. But his personal Empire is broken and his grandkid rejected him and his ways. He got nothing he wanted. That’s not a win.
Like maybe she heals Leia and Leia/someone notes there are some things that can’t be healed, even by the Force, leading to either the idea that she’s dying of something physically that’s really bad that reoccurs worse each cure or it’s broken heartedness. Either one sets up her sudden death in some context beyond “I…
my in-laws have taken us on worse. Branson, even.
AoTC came out when I was 27. I do not think a jury would convict me on this one.
It’s funny to me because the desire to move toys led to every other being in the cantina being an action figure after (or during) the release of the first movie, and then this complicated mythos evolved to fill in the stories of these nobodies Kenner was marketing, and now that has become some sort of religious text…
I can remember seeing Splinter in the Mind’s Eye in my elementary school library and not wanting to read it if it wasn’t “real” because Star Wars was so important to me.
My hope, and I admit to being a third-rate screenwriter, is that the memory issues noted above and the unDoctory flaws are intentional, and in-universe are a subconscious thing where Jody is then going to have to overcome herself and be the Doctor. The Doctor has been on the run for a very long time and survived some…
Same thought. It’s exactly the sort of frothy whipped confection that goes so well this time of year.
Per an article I read about the people who wrote the tie-in novels and such, there is a story group that reviewed work. I think one author stated that she was told she couldn’t put Vader’s ship somewhere because Book Y already had it somewhere else in the same time period. As to whether this exists or had any power…
I’m really leaning toward getting rid of mine. It is the only place to superficially interact with my extended family, though, so either I have to cut them off completely or make some effort to reach out. And I’d rather just pretend to care at an electronic distance.
I finally went to TROS this weekend, after waiting out the hardcore crowds. It was a fun SW movie. It had obvious issues, but I feel every movie I see has someone I can nitpick, and overall it was worth the time and money.
