Bringing Palpatine back is, ironically, more interesting than the First Order and Supreme Leader Snoke ever were. Not exactly original, at least for Star Wars as a franchise, but for the movies. It’s at least honest to go back where it all ended in-universe in your last movie instead of recreating another scenario

That’s easy: It was never the plan. Snoke was the “plan” - an Emporer pastiche for a Fake-Empire in a Star Wars reboot. But then Johnson came and killed him in TLJ. Now that Abrams had to come back to tie things up, he needs another Snoke - and the next best thing is the original.

It would be unlikely, but a welcome change, no? I mean they devoured enough of the movies, time to reuse some of the supplementary stories.

That’s my favorite theory from Reddit. Scavenging the Death Star for Kyber Crystals to make more lightsabers.

But TLJ taught us to save what we love! And Abrams loves his version of the story so we will go back to it.

Old habits are hard to break. She’s a scavenger after all. Can’t waste scraps.

Or some other native species, like the Duloks.

The shot of Kylo Ren’s mask being welded back together reminds me of another piece of concept art from TFA.

Now we know what happened to Broomboy. He started his own gang of Force wizards and witches.

By subverting expectations that would have led to something new and different he came back to the same old story he wanted to rejuvenate. Looks like you can’t have both.

And now there are lots of ST haters that begin to worship the PT as Lucas wrongly convicted masterpiece. It’s a very weird development.

Not in this trilogy. The ST should become the prime example of how you don’t do a follow-up. We all wanted more Star Wars, but we got the same once more. I would love to pretend that it was just a new Holiday Special, but nope, that’s it. I’m definitely ready to move on but probably for the wrong reasons.

I love it how everyone keeps quoting the “kill the past” sentiment of TLJ but forgets the later, probably even more important (but kinda contradicting) line “That’s how we’re gonna win. Not by fighting what we hate. But saving what we love.

what if Steve Rogers stayed a scrawny, young kid but joined the fight with an armored suit built by Howard Stark?

WandaVision? Is there a pun that I’m missing..? Why not Wanda & Vision?

Eh, then her reaction would have been a bit different, I think. The MCU has a very liberal relationship to the comics canon.

what’s the point of Natasha recognizing Bucky in two previous films?

It helped that they have one theme in common: Saving Bucky Barnes.

I thought Cap was kind of underpowered in The Avengers, or at least not back up to full capacity after having been frozen 70 years

I mean, yeah, they’re still CGI and have definitely an artificial quality, but I think it’s good enough. It worked for me in Jungle Book, to my own surprise, so I’m quite optimistic about this one too.
