Would have been my pick too. I’m German and used to Nazis as exposable demi-humans in US fiction but still have a deep affection for Captain America as this embodiment of hope in the comics so I was quite moved by that scene.

I’m actually glad they didn’t try to humanize them as much as the Mowgli film did. That was... uncanny. Animal faces are as good as they are.
I’ve never heard of St. Elsewhere before (it’s probably not very popular outside of the US) but I still understood that reference because it has become a meme at this point.
Hm, interesting, but I think this had more to do with Iron-Mans Sci-Fi setting being the entry point for the MCU and their need to reconcile him with Thor, who seems more Fantasy, at least on surface-level. This all seems superfluous in a Post-MCU world but I wouldn’t underestimate the genre walls in the minds of…
Ah but even Marvel tried to ease the audience in it with their “magic is highly advanced technology” lines in Thor or Stranges “hack the reality” approach. And Star Wars is a very special piece of fiction that carved a niche for itself. Plus the Force falls somewhere in the category of psychokinetic powers that were…
Nah. The saltiest fans learned to avoid places like this and gather in darker sides of the net. I say this as one of them.
“Normies” can only deal with one crazy thing at a time in their fiction, like magical religious artifacts or aliens. They can’t comprehend that they might co-exist. They’re just not used to the Fantasy Kitchen Sink concept that is the standard in superhero fiction.
Let’s be real, Hamill would have been the highlight no matter what. Grumpy, sunshine, wise, nuts. He was the one we were looking for.
The was pretty much my mindset shortly after the release of TLJ. Everything that wasn’t directly related to TFA or the Skywalker Saga sounded promising. Or so I thought. The salty side has won me over since then and I’m really fighting with myself to stay open-minded.
I would add to Anthem that it sounds traditional and liturgic, so basically the opposite of what they aimed for.
The idea that escapism can’t deal with real-life issues and - especially - emotions bugs me a lot.
That will be the breakthrough for smell-o-vision.
BTBATB was such a gem and way better than it had any rights to be. And it had this wonderful scene where Batmite deals with fellow fans.
Just as proof.
Looks like the battle droid protocol has been reactivated.
No Spike? Shame on you. No Count Duckula?! Shame once more.
“Original,” you say?
Oh, I haven’t even thought about the possibility that she could be the villain. Now I hope that’s the case! Did the Deviants have a queen in the comics..?
I dig the Eternals as a concept, the symmetry between them and the Deviants. I like Sersi, one of the few Eternals with somewhat of a personality. Other than that I’m not really excited about their story, but I see that as a strength: They can’t disappoint me.
