Day 12 - “Well, that’s why its been a while since I played Fallout 4.”

The character art always looked like a cross between claymation and toys. I’d be down for that sort of art mashup.

I have extreme doubts that the end of that demo was a fully realized, fully physics enabled, fully player controlled world. Cue Destiny 1's “See that landscape? You can go there” fib.

I gave up on a followup like 20 years ago. I just want an HD remake at this point (Maybe preferably cell shaded).

Just to clear one thing up: This is literally a tech demo of a game engine that you’re complaining about, uh, being a tech demo. It is not here to sell you or anyone else on games or really even hardware (UE is platform agnostic, this happens to be running on a PS5). It’s just to show off what the tech is

My team let out audible “Awe” during our zoom meeting today as we watched

Dev here.  after spending way to many hours getting zbrush udimms to export 4K textures correctly for normals and now it’s a forgone conclusion??? ... that alone is worth it to me.

Thanks for this, couldn’t have said it better myself. Stoked to see the UE5 tools, very exciting for me.

Hello sane voice of reason. Nice to meet you.

Framing this conversation as, “This is what next-generation games could look like,” is selling this demo a bit short. The real strength of Lumen and Nanite, as shown here, is how it changes the workflow of artists.

Although I wonder if he kinda had his info wrong and was just referring to this remaster as the new THPS. Either way, I’m happy.

One thing that makes the fight much easier and allowed me to do it early is having one character (healer generally) be equipped with a revival earring. When the final attack goes off after the countdown they will be revived and can arise party members. Other than that, transference module and spamming skills will

My guess is they will definitely expand a lot on this when the Gold Saucer comes out. Since they will have a lot of room to fill, it will probably be the most impressive Gold Saucer since XIV, with every minigame in the original as well as every minigame we’ve seen so far here plus some that we haven’t seen yet, so

I feel like Wall Market sums up all of my feelings about this game so far (I’m just past the pillar coming down). It’s got enough that’s similar to the original to give me that sweet sweet hit of nostalgia, without being so alike that I’m just feeling that it’s just another play through.

You think “cursing” matters. That’s the only sad part.

Are you missing the fact that these were all discovered (and named) decades ago?

It’s not often that the creator of something is wrong about his own creation.

Every console kind of touts itself as leaps and bounds over the previous ones, and the truth is that while they are better, they’re not really “leaps and bounds” better, mostly in terms of game performance.

Pardon my semantic error. I do not work in the field, and I didn’t mean for my jargon to slip. <3  I had actually intended to say byte, but I know you won’t appreciate that either, for some reason.  :P

Cool, maybe now we can see how pointless MMO functionality is in a Pokemon game so people can finally shut up about it.
