My son’s E36 was in need of some part. He grabbed the keys to Grandma’s Subaru. He gets in and just sits there. After a few minutes, he had to ask how to start and drive without a clutch or stick.

I had a crap first car, then kept ‘saving’ what I called a car payment with an eye to the future. Drive each car until it dies or can’t do what you need it to. Buy the next one used. Keep saving every month.
