“I thought the alternative scene liked artists to wear their damage without shame and blurt out impolitic truths.”
For some reason the idea that there are women *around the world* that were assaulted by him has surprised me. I guess I thought that all Hollywood humans stayed in Hollywood. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
She’s one of my favorite Canadians.
Corden has always been tone-deaf, ironically.
One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in in my life is Norm MacDonald mocking the death of The Crocodile Hunter on the Daily Show way too soon after Steve Irwin died. There is nothing too soon about humor if it is funny. That is where Corden went wrong. He should stick to singing songs for morons.
I think a lot of us turned our pain about Kurt’s death towards Courtney. There’s a reason why all the conspiracy theories went back to her (reason: We were dumb kids looking for someone to blame other than Kurt). And she did make a few lousy moves with handling the Nirvana catalog, including some of her attacks on…
I hate it when comics heckle the room when their jokes don’t get a laugh. Ninety percent of the time it’s because the joke doesn’t work. Five percent of the time it’s because they haven’t even said the punchline yet so the audience has no reason to react one way or another.
“Oh, I get it. This is too edgy for you?”…
Sarah Polley is an absolute treasure in every way.
Women directors seems to be a good starting point for changing on set culture. When I studied business management one of my lecturers said no one can change a workplace culture from the bottom up. Has to be top down to be effective.

At the sake of sounding dramatic, Live Through This completely changed my view of myself. Here was this woman just roaring with rage and forcing you to accept her. She was amazing and I will always have respect for her as well. You will really never see anyone else like her.
Courtney Love’s problematic behavior would go unnoticed on a man. See: dozens of examples of unstable addict actors who continue to find work.
One thing about Courtney, she’s a straight shooter. She rarely holds anything back. She seemed a bit radical for Hollywood back in the day, but they needed a swift kick in the pants.
Yet Johnny Depp, RDJ, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen and many more continue to work despite having substance abuse problems for years. Hmmm, what’s the difference? I can’t seem to work it out.
“I’ll bury you in the rose garden?’ - Mel Gibson to his pregnant girlfriend
“.I’m sensing a lot of hate-Love vibe on this thread.”
I vaguely remember this from the time, because I remember Metallica/Lars Ulrich speaking out against Napster (which she mentions) but all I remember from that was they were really against Napster and sued them, slightly missing the point that the appeal of Napster wasn’t just that it was free (not that I’m saying that…
I’d argee, but behind all of it, she actually looks a bit afraid. for her to start with “i’d get libel for it” means she knows his reputation for destroying careers, i get that she ends up saying it anyway, but behind all that intoxication is fear.
