She says that their couples therapist made her agree to avoid ALL men while she was surfing (her job): “I was instructed to say ‘I’m going to talk to my boyfriend’ and then paddle away.”

It’s weirder to me that everyone blames Jada for the actions of her husband, as if her sketchy infidelity FORCED him to attack another person in public.
People who whine about female-dominated work environments should go work as a woman in the oil sector. Men joke about raping you to your face and you have to strategically avoid being alone with creeps every single day.
And Only Murders in the Building is airing now, why is he referencing his ex’s relationship with DeGeneres 22 years after it ended? I hope someone writes a story about a petty man who dates a woman 20 years younger than him and can’t get over her dating a woman after him for the rest of his life.
Steve Martin dated Anne Heche for a couple of years and then she got together with Ellen DeGeneres. Martin not so graciously included a character in Bowfinger based on Heche, who is promiscuous and desperate for stardom, and ends up with a barely veiled DeGeneres stand-in. This character is hard to watch knowing how…
People are assuming it’s a suicide attempt because of her brother’s death, but it could also be psychosis/delusions. Maybe she thought she was being chased?
Ellen was a bully who was rude to people behind the scenes. Whedon slept with multiple much younger employees on his show, at least once on set in full view of other people. Their ability to consent would be affected by fears that their boss might disfavour them if they said no and there are stories of him being nasty…
The descriptions in the Shapiro article of how he treated three of his much younger girlfriends and his insistence that he really couldn’t help himself from sleeping with his employees on the Buffy set are enough to make him dead to me. He comes across as having lots in common with Angelus and the trio.
Fabulous podcast in this era of renewed moral panics. Lots of great stuff on copaganda and true crime myths too. Mike is missed but Sarah Marshall is unforgettable.
She should have won the talent show.
Paging the Brian Laundrie apologists...
She physically assaulted people? I thought she was just a mean person and shitty boss.
Rather than being contemptuous of Laura Lee’s faith, I wonder if the show is leaning into the theme of her Christianity as one of the things keeping the girls from descending into chaos. She showed leadership at the funeral, she was right about the seance and then saves the day by throwing her bible, she was a…
I haven’t seen anything with Ray Fisher, but how bad can he be at acting? Surely not worse than David Boreanaz, who Whedon wrote a whole series for.
He was Me Too’d indirectly. None of the employees he had sexual relationships with spoke up but other people described a poisonous workplace environment. Even if whichever twentysomething he was rolling around on the floor with doesn’t have anything bad to say about him, it made everyone uncomfortable. And it’s…
If he had a sexual relationship with Eliza Dushku, it was gross on his part, full stop. Adults in their 30s are completely capable of resisting the charms of their teenage employees. No matter what she thinks about the relationship, we can absolutely blame him for fucking a much younger employee. That is pretty…
He proclaimed himself to be a feminist and yet turned out to have a pattern of cruel behavior towards women.
The female characters on Roseanne were way more complex and interesting than most of Whedon’s female characters. They weren’t punished for having sex and their romantic relationships were way healthier than anything in the Buffyverse. I’m guessing this speaks to him having less of an influence on Roseanne.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that there are almost no healthy romantic relationships in the Buffyverse, particularly for Buffy herself.
It’s especially gross if it was Eliza Dushku given that when she started on the show she was a minor and he was in his 30s . She has also been sexually harassed at at least 2 other workplaces, I guess they have the same excuse? She’s just too hot to avoid harassing or taking advantage of?
