I am kinda confused? What is the advantage of the oven method? It takes the same time as stove top, has the same occasional stirring, but has less even browning. And takes the oven out of commission instead of one burner.

I’ve watched this happen in the grocery store for years. For example, a container of ice cream is no longer a half gallon, it’s 1.5 quarts or about 25% less.  That way they could keep the price the same.  100s of other products have done the same; keep the price the same, but make the package smaller.

Too much sugar still in those.
